CS968 MTK KITKAT ROM 4.4 - Finally

Maybe a silly question
I've finally got my box working again and planning to flash this rom today. Pincer confirmed that RK Batch Tool is the programme to use to flash the rom which I have. I've taken a look at the program and would appreciate what steps I should take - don't want to get it wrong!

2. check this thread by brick0044, for how to look what chips of wifi and bluetooth on your board, it's place near the usb hub.
3. you can check your factory default firmware in "Setting --> About device"
4. not damage, but you will lost wireless connectivity such as wifi and bluetooth, LAN is still work though if you planning to use wired networking.
5. Yes, you need the RK Batch Tool, dont forget to install your driver with RK Driver assistant.

or you can try this ROM first, if the bluetooth and wifi is working, then you have mtk chips on the board, if not, then you have ap6210 chips.

I can now confirm that the new ROM 20140424 does make your box with 2Gb internal memory and 4Gb SD (Internal, Nand). I didnt know that different ROM could do this with the memory configuration?
But you learn something everyday thanks to the compentence of this forum.
I can also confirm that this ROM is working like a dance on CS968 version 4 board.
Thank you Pincer for all your help and for the work you do to inform us about the things we struggle with.
Super :-)

There's new kitkat 4.4 ROM for MTK 20140424 link in 1st post, I've note all the changes from previous 20140419 I can find one of them is that revert back storage capacity to insternal (system) to 2GB and Sd Card (Nand Flash) to 4GB. as per your question
#1, I haven't the exact answer, IMHO, like any other system platform, the default command when their turn on, is to identify hardware In/Out and searching for driver all of that is in file system, so to speed up the access (boot time) they use dedicated partition in internal memory. Some apps need it's file system in internal as for per performance setting. You can change the SD card (Nand Flash) to Ext SD card as default nand flash, you can check here, DWYOR.
#2, Yes you can, just format your usb drive to FAT32, I'm using it too.
@servo386,
Thanks.Originally posted by pincer View PostHahaha.., sorry for my bad english, I mean, in new ROM (20140424) system capacity is back to 2GB (instead of 1GB in 20140419) and internal sdcard become 4GB (instead of 5,6 GB in 20140419).
Yes, I recommend to upgrade, as far as I can use, it's almost the same as 20140419. But, both KITKAT has high compatibility with XBMC, IMHO.

I haven´t installed the new ROM because I think the 20140419 works great and it´s always a lot of restore procedures when you flash a new ROM.
Do you recommend to upgrade to 20140424 ?
Thank´s for your answers.

I Have two questions:
1. Why does android install all applications on internal memory? I have only 1gb memory internal and 6 gb SD Nand, soon filled upp internal but NAnd is nearly empty, and most of the apps dont allow to move to SD. Is there any solution on this?
2. Can you use an external Usb harddrive to have movies on and then use apps to play these files? Xbmc etc..?
hope you dont think its to funny questions for you, but I am new to this and I Love It :-)Originally posted by servo386 View PostHere is the best pic I could take of the the PCB.
