How do you change to 780p by the way. Is it the same screen where you pcik 50 or 60Hz. If so is it 50Hz in the UK? How do you get 720 kernel?
look in the android system settings, the listing down the left has an "Q7" section, click advanced and choose switch resolution, I get flicker using both. I´ve gone back to the stock ROM

I´ve 2 identical Q7 boxes & both have the flicker

Thanks bloatman, I tryed Vecinux´s rom few days ago, it flash ok but it gets stuck on boot, I see the penguines & then hangs on a black screen. I tryed 3 times to get veclinux rom working as I´ve read its working great for several people here on the forums.

I´ve tryed a few roms so far without much luck, only the 1220 updated stock rom & original firmware work without screen flicker but video playback has the dreaded micro stutter.

Ref Q7 lewy20041 rom - thought I´d mention that the screen flicker is present everywhere, not just in xbmc but anywhere, in the apps menu, desktop, it don´t matter whats on the screen I get a flicker every few secounds, theres no pattern just seems like a random flicker, if I reduce the resolution down to 576 or 480 the flicker is gone but at that resolution the menus and video playback look terrible, also on AV output theres no flicker but again resolution is crappy. Also with the 4 TV´s its been tested with only 2 reconised the hdmi and displayed a picture the other 2 tv´s report "no signal" also tryed with a hdmi monitor & no signal detected. I´ve flashed 2x Q7´s & both have the same problem.

Will not boot past the penguines

It took almost 5 minutes for it to boot the first time using veclnux rom.

Really, I´ll flash it again right now & leave it alone will report back findings. Cheers bloatman

                EDIT:
Yup I needed to wait longer Screen flicker on 720P is gone but still get the odd flicker on 1080P, (its a 720 kernel so I´m not worried about 1080), xbmc has smooth 1080P playback
                No root, rooted with TPSparkyRoot
It do´nt feel as fast as lewys rom but this will do nicely entill something better comes along

                EDIT 2:
My mistake flicker is there, back to stock

                    made small progress

I´ve kinda made small progress, 1 step forward, one step back but at least I know its a hdmi sound issue thats causing my screen flicker, not had chance to test on my buddies TV´s that won´t detect the box at all but hopefully his tvs will pickup the box now, rather than the curent "unsupported signal input".

In the android system menu / sounds / sounds devices manager

I changed "sound output device" to ROCKCHIP-SPDIF & ROCKCHIP-SPDIF PASSTHROUGH these 2 settings work, screen flicker is 100% gone but now I have no audio on hdmi

When the output deivce is set to any of the following I get screen flicker:
                    RK29_RK1000
                    RK29_RK1000 & ROCKCHIP-SPDIF
                    RK29_RK1000 PASSTHROUGH

I don´t have a optical cable to test sound but hopefully this might be a quick dirty fix for those that have optical amps & I hope this helps the devs narrow down the problem.

Can anybody else comfirm this gets rid of the screen flicker on your box ?

(oh and yes I´m back on your rom lewy)

Found the RK1000 chip on my board its a :
                    RK1000 -S

I have never had screen flicker on the stock, lewy's or veclinux roms. Had micro stutter on stock and sound issues with lewy's and xbmc would kick me back to home screen often. Having no issues using veclinux rom. Could be your power supply as I upgraded to 4amp right from the start so I could use a usb. hard drive without a powered hub

Thanks man, they were´nt my Q7 boxes my friend brought them & I said I´d take a look at them, tbh I got sick to death of it & have given them back to him now, I said you had suggested a better PSU but at least for now he´s stuck with AV output. I have a MX2 / K-R42 & mk908II on order so hopefully they will fair better.

I don´t know in android, I´m still new to this platform but I looked in XBMC, check "system info" in xbmc and you can see the current REAL screen res. Also you should notice the boot animation appears smaller when booting with the 1080P kernel & bigger with the 720P kernel.

                                Ethernet (eth0) not working?

Hi guys, I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how to get the ethernet to work on this thing.

My ethernet is enabled (on) in settings, but I am not getting any IP. I then tried to set a Static IP (using Static IP Settings), but it failed to save.

I then tried to set it up in command line using:
                                busybox ifup eth0 192.168.1.22 255.255.255.0

but I get the error "ifup: can't open '/etc/network/interfaces': no such file or directory."

Am I supposed to create the /etc/network/interfaces file myself?

Since I'm asking questions about networking, I may as well ask this too: in lewy's instruction on NFS share mount, it says to edit 05NFS script in init.d folder. I can't find this script either - am I supposed to create it? How do I get write access to the init.d folder?

                                Thank you!
