That's the one I've been using.
While it does install SuperSU and the su binary in the right places, permissions aren't set correctly for the system to recognize it.
I've been taking care of some ROM updates today for some Pipo tablets, but I'm getting back to this project. We shall see what I'm able to come up with.Randy

After weeks of struggling with this tablet....I'm happy to say it's now unbricked and rooted. I also now have a ROM dump of the original firmware to work with.
This is a really nice tablet. The fastest and smoothest performing tablet I've seen so far.
There are some challenges ahead before a custom RileyROM will be available. According to iFive, there isn't a compatible flash tool that supports this device yet. The SP Flash Tool I've been using for other MTK ROM's bricks the tablet. Each time I try flashing an update.zip with recovery, the installation aborts...so I have some learning to do using that route.
The dreaded KitKat restriction of read/write permissions on the SD cards is my biggest disappointment at the moment. I've edited the profiles.xml to allow permissions, but Titanium Backup won't save to either SD storage spaces. The usual fix to that error isn't available on this firmware...so I've got to find a different way to make it work.
Actually, it's not all that bad. Now that it's rooted, I'm able to do most of the things I'm accustomed to doing with my tablets...just with the stock firmware...which seems pretty solid. For a basic user standpoint, I'm pretty happy with it.
If anyone else has one of these tablets, please tell us your experience...and maybe share your ideas on how to solve these little issues.Randy

Proof that you're never to old to learn. Sometimes too old to remember though.

1.1.0 root returned
Dear ivivdim,
I was afraid that I might brick the device, using the same update for 1.0.9.
But you have pushed me.
I followed the same procedure as 1.0.9., and fortunately root has returned.
(Root checker, OK; SuperSU, OK; busy box free, OK)

Hello
I have receive this awesome tablet since a big week and i also try to make a custom ROMSo i have the same difficult with update.zip cooking by DSIXDA Kitchen with default recovery, result is "installation aborted".
I have coooking this ROM with the update so is'nt a good idea ? So i have a full backup with MTK Android Tool.
Another supposition is the dsixda ROM need alternative recovery like CWM or TWRP to flash because there is a conversion of updater-script to update-script (don't remember the good way). I have allready have done a calvin Touch Recovery based on CWM but screentouch don't work (only volume and power buton) and i don't able to back on menu

My tablet bricked when I tried flashing CWM. iFive says they don't have a flash tool that is compatible with this tablet.
If we can only figure out how to flash a custom recovery...we will be in business.Randy
