Does the Fire TV have HD playback with netflix? If so, is it also the version 3.6.0?

The FTV is on its way, will test & report once I receive it. But I am almost certain it does full hd playback as that's the report on internet & I think since it's a custom built for FTV so it should as does my Roku 3, 1920x1080 at 5800kbps.

See if you can get some ideas about how to get HD in Netflix.

I might not be able to do it, but I'm sure it's possible to do it.
PS: How easy would be if netflix simply enable HD playback in all the devices no matter who manufactured it.

Re: Netflix problems?
Originally posted by WeK05 View PostIt is not that Netflix HD is available only on certain devices. As long as the minimum OS API level is met and the device has proper DRM service, Netflix will playback in HD (provided your network is fast enough). The crucial thing here is DRM. Only the necessary DRM engines are present in X8. It doesn't have proper DRM service running.
I think most if not all android devices support drm playback.
If you have to look in the smali codes you can see that the app does a lot of checkings to determine which device is running the app and the characteristics of the device that is running the app.
In summary they only allow HD playback in very few devices.

I have got 2 phones at home,
HTC One M7 (mine) - Running custom rom & kernel. Netflix went up to 480p 1750kbps
LG G2 (Wife's) - Absolutely stock, no modifications. Result was same, 480p 1750kbps
Both phones are full hd screens, were tested on the same network & with the same El Fuente 60 mp 10 clip.
Comments..?
Was it tested on your wireless network? What kind of bitrate/resolution do you get on your PC/Mac/Roku?

- Laptop 2 (screen reso: full hd), on the same wifi network - 1920x1080 @ 5800kbps
- Roku 3, both wired & wifi - 1920x1080 @ 5800kbps
Forgot Chromecast, does same 1920x1080 @ 5800kbps
