Wow, this has turned into quite a discussion.

This could also be a spur for the XBMC Teams themselves to look further into automated installation packages for newbies and inexperienced/impatient users (which may well already be the case of course).

...automated installation packages of unsupported add-ons used to 'illegally stream' coyrighted material will never be made by the XBMC team as it will spell their downfall at the hands of corporate lawsuits over DMCA, etc. The paid add-on packages such as the one in this thread themselves are in a gray area despite mostly using open source software.

Where the team may be able to promote their commercial side to some extent to recoup costs is to sell the product at one of the many regular weekend computer fairs that take place up and down the isles.

Let me just say... there are MANY MANY resellers of boxes that are taking ROMs developed for free here for users, AND taking XBMC builds, and packaging them up and selling boxes. I could not even list them all that I personally know about!

At first I was upset that people are taking what is developed for free and repackaging it to make a profit! Again YOU HAVE NO IDEA how many they are. I would say maybe 30% has contacted me asking permission for my ROM to use commercially. More have just been taking! But I don't have the time to try and police takers nor do I care anymore... It's the way it is with Android! Good or bad! If you decide to get into this game and give your time freely for people, trust you will have to realize it will also get taken and used by people for profit! So realize that before you decide to develop on this platform for free!

So what you are talking about and what some do or try is kind of up to them! The user community in the end decides what works and what doesn't! No need to beat the hell out of people that try to do something different other then letting them know if it's going to work and giving constructive feedback. If no one goes for it, it goes by way of the Dino! Extinct!

Everyone at team UX hates Win 8 - but we don't think it should have any problems - it will cost you nothing to try it and we are 99.9% sure it won't won't break anything

It does work on windows 8.1.

well i must say after all the moaning i have tried it. yes i admit it should not be sold just my opinion, i have it on windows 7 and it is really good i have not donated or anything just used the free 1 and like i said i like it. try it if you dont like it uninstall just something different that as put some more interest in the hobby hope it last.

i agree with what you say ive been in the sat seen for 20 years and it the same with that pay servers still peoples cards and selling them on. i have tried this xbmc on my windows 7 the free 1 and its good, you can only try.

I am meeting with the kids on skype tonight, this is their project not mine and I will do my best to get them to do something to keep people here happier, I can only try. They do this with their own money, their own time and none of them are rich, so go easy on them and let's see what they decide to come up with. None of them are experts, none of them have been professionally trained and none of them have made a dime out of this, they are just bedroom kids still living at home with mom and pops.

We had over 150 downloads of the free version and like 6 of the other one, so leach as much as you want and complain as much as you want - but it seems to us, that some people want to try it.

So please go easy on them - please.

hi there i have donated deleted the original free sample downloaded the donate for version and it seems identical asking for master pin and has donation message on screen am I doing something wrong here r is this normal many thanks and am more than happy wit the donation by he way

tango i had the sample first,with xbmc closed go to appdata roaming folder and delete the xbmc folder you find there,next doubleclick on the zip file and drag the zip file from winrar to roaming folder where it will unpack,rename the .xbmc file you get to xbmc and you are finished.Open xbmc you will be asked for the pin but you can disable this in settings.I no longer get the donation screen.I was told it also works by using copy and paste and overwrite the folder.

That read me is different to the one inside the shareware version, it tells you in there how to do it, also the text on the login screen should be slightly different if you installed the other version correctly.
Just PM us, if you still can't do it and we will try a step by step approach.

I have it working no problems what so ever followed the steps identically as set out and disabled master code no worries but just cannot get the fron screen to change from donations I have installed the free version on a kindle and th epaid fro version on another kindle and both look the same im really confused thanks for your help I tried your method of doing roaming but it crashes on me possibly kindles fault or mine lol
