I don't blame you but figured it can't hurt to know just in-case.

On a amusing note iam not going to bother responding to the post above yours as its been answered three times already and you think they remember that i didn't actually order it from the post a earlier in this thread.

Only for the discontinued products (factorystopped the production) we will consider to repair for customers.

        That's impressive.

Blame the customer and lie all at the same time.

Go look at you own facebook site for heaven sake.
You got one guy who received a repaired phone instead of a new one and it didn't even have the screws put back in.
That's just one example of many which prove the truth being something other then what your saying.

Since you repaired your machine locally, i am sure you have spent some money. Please give me your order number and also send the repair receipt copy to service people. I will apply to refund you partial of the repair fee.
These are my 2 order numbers 3156802 and ‏ 314907, The first one was pre-ordered before release, but I did not receive it until after I got the second one which I ordered over a month later, all in all I waited a ridiculous 2 months from ordering to receiving.
I spent a lot of time speaking to Emi or Amy @ geekbuying in china at great cost to my phone bill trying to trace where the first one went. I never got any compensation for how much I was messed about.

Regarding the second one, I work in an electronics company and so had it successfully repaired by a colleague.

I think it is good that as a company you are trying compensate your customers as this level of customer service is often missing when dealing with companies from the far east, to that end I will take you up on your offer of compensation, as opposed to cash I would much appreciate an air mouse, infact I would really like 2 as I have 2 devices and as mentioned above have had different issues with both of them, but maybe I am being cheeky so I will leave it in your hands as to whether you send 1 or 2. You have my home address so I look forward to seeing what the postman brings.

So three months after sending the box back a replacement actually showed up.

Plug it in all works fine...for 8 hours and the HDMI dies can't really say that was a huge shock.
So no desiring my better half or myself to go through the nightmare again i opened it since the fix for the HDMI flaw is well known now.

SPOILER Alert how many here think it was a new unit?!!!

Not only was this not a new unit (version 2.1) they had tried repairing the HDMI and did the sloppiest job i ever seen.
There was solder melted into the plastic (thankfully they missed the electronics) and replaced the heatsink pad with enough heat-sink grease to clue the heat-sink on.

Ad this to the fact this heat-sink is about half the size of the ones seen on others and you wonder WTF they are doing.

Seriously you send out repaired unit that aren't even remotely fixed correctly and call them new!!!!!

I can understand shortage of product but this is ridiculous not to mention a violation of your own warranty statement.

After fixing the soldering and finding a replacement heatsink the correct size with much less heatsink grease used it runs fine.
Did have to spend 15 min cleaning off the grease from the surrounding electronics there was so much used.

I don't recall my better half ordering a electronic puzzle for my birthday so WTF did you send one and waste both her and my time/money?

                  Hi Magnus33,

I was hoping that you could give me some advice. I received my s89 with the heat sink not attached and rattling around in the unit. I did not want to RMA the device so I opened it up and indeed the heat sink was not attached and there was thermal paste everywhere. I pressed the heat sink back onto the chip and it stuck to it by suction I guess but I assume that it will come off again.

Can you tell me how to clean off the thermal paste, which heat sink that you brought and what you attached it with?

                  Thanks in advance,

                  Martin.

Some rubbing alcohol and qtips should remove it fine its a pain but it wont hurt the unit.

There are suppose to be two push pins that lock it into place.
These can be had at most any computer store and as long as you bring in the heatsink they should have one to match.

If not they can recommend one close and you can drill the two holes in the correct place.

I merely used one i had laying around so i know longer know who made it...lol

This video shall you what they look like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzIpCABWcFU

Its a very minor and straight forward job but not one we should have had to do in the first place.
You got one of the repaired units and not a new ones.. where they forgot to put in the two push pins.

So how many decied to RMA the device and actually got a working replacement?

If what iam reading is correct most seemed to have just been ripped off or received no working replacement.

                      Whats your experience?
I ordered two S89s just prior to the release date and they arrived promptly. Besides the issue with the blue lights flashing when the unit was in off/stby, they worked well initially.

One box is still working fine and I am very pleased. The second box started flashing blue more and more and finally froze and stopped working. I was just shy of six months and it was my belief that I would pay for shipping on the way to China and that Geekbuying would pay for the shipping back to me.

I did the troubleshooting but no dice, so I sent it via USPS $24 to China. They acknowledged receipt last week, no problems, except they wanted me to pay $12 via a separate link for return shipping. I am unsure whether I will receive a new box or a repaired one. Their English is a little hard to understand, but their English is better than my Chinese, so I won't complain.

Rather than argue the $12 shipping charge with the language barrier in between, I just decided to pay the $12 to get the process underway.

Other than the language barrier and the $12 charge, the process has been fairly smooth and competent. Of course, all depends on what I receive back from them.

                      Wait and see.

Wild guess your going to get a repaired unit or one that got the same hdmi flaw many of the others do.

They say they fixed the problem but there no proof and people are still receiving the flawed units so it seems to be nothing more then a load of BS from them.

Also your not suppose to be paying for anything.
They are suppose to reimburse you for shipping and pay to ship it back which is whats stated in their return policy.
Its a flawed unit which makes it their fault and not yours.

                          Here's what I found:

                          4. Within 1 to 6 months: GKB & customer share (free repair warranty only)
Items should be returned by customers’ cost for free repair and GeekBuying will pay for shipping the repaired one to customers.

It appears that the shipping cost to China was my responsibility, but they are supposed to pay the shipping charge back to me in the USA. I made the initial inquiry about 1 week shy of the six month limit and mailed it to them a few days later.

However, due to the 2-3 weeks it took to get to China, they received it after the six months. By USA or Canada standards, I could argue that I made the initial claim prior to the six months and therefore Geekbuying should pay the $12 for shipping back to the USA.

                          1) They barely speak English, so it would probably be a waste of time to argue
                          2) China customer service standards are much lower than what we're used to in USA and Canada

At this point, I would be happy just to get a unit that works (not holding breath). I'll post the results here when I receive the unit back from them.

Seems they been making changes without telling people big shock there.

You made the rma before the six months mark so your correct shipping back was suppose to be at their cost.

Their English is bad but most of the communication problems are used by them as a excuse to drag things out and do what they want.
Hopefully you do get a working return but even that no guaranteed for sure since they have no problem forgetting people exist.

here in europe 2 years warranty

As most of us know .When buying in China its cheap .But when something happens and your product is broken most of us know that thats bad luck .It cost you an arm and leg for s&h than customs that charges a lot .

So what do most of us do trie to resolve the problem ourselve ore trow it in the waist bin .What the Chineese seem to forget is aftersales .Thats the most important thing in marketing .I don't think they learn that at school with their 5 year economy .

So my advice to the great leader .For the next following 5 years is !!!

1 if you sell an electronic device like a tv box ore cellphone .Be sure to get ride of all the bugs in the software and take care that at least you update your software for 2 years .That means lollypop for all android boxes from now untill 2 years Back .

2 If you sell stuff that breaks after few days (even after 1 year 364 days) and its a factory fault .The store pays the s&h .If its the owners fault afterwards the owner pays .

3 if you sell stuff that has for months the same problem like the hdmi .Stop selling the sh*t.Be sure when you sell it again that the bug(factory fault) is Gone.

I Think this is what we expect at least from a compagny .Btw my tronsmart works fine only a few software bugs

Of course we got the added curse of a company knowingly selling a defective product.

Its luck of the draw you get a working one your good or if you get a bad one tough luck.

Fortunately in some cases it can be fixed with welding and you don't have to deal with them.
Geekbuying is the lowest form of a company that sells broken products and has no problems lying to the buyer.

Others can make money but not cross those lines as we see in the forums here.
