Ok, I was expecting this answer ... I also look on the internet and I've always found forums and data sheets which always specified that the 3G module of P1 is used only for the data connection, but..... Surprise! Upon arrival of my tablet I turned it on and, in the app drawer, I found the icons for "phone" and "messaging": I inserted an italian sim card and... IT WORKS! At least in part, because you can send and receive messages correctly, but the call is REALLY very disturbed, both for me and for those on the other end of the line, with a metallic sound, echo and reverb, and very low volume !
I know i 'm interested in your rom because i'm sure it will be much more smooth, but the fundamental reason for me is to be able to choose the 12gb user app space, but i dont want to loose the ability to make phone calls, if this ability is not implemented in RileyRom, and as I said before I am a true beginner and do not know how to "move" in this case

All of my major battery saving features are only done for the wifi only versions of my ROMs. For the 3g, I leave all of that intact. If you are able to make calls with stock, you should be able to with my ROM in theory...but I haven't tested it.

I understand ... What worries me is that I have seen in the network various video or screenshot of Pipo P1 3G, and no one had in the drawer, the icons for "phone" and "messages" that I have. So i do not know if i have a "particular" version of the firmware that contains them.
I attach a screenshot for your information...

I 've Also preinstalled an app named "ApkInstaller" that (as I understand it) makes me do a backup of applications ... I could then "export" the two app, phone and messages, to reinstall them later, if I did not find them on the tablet after flashing the RileyRom ... but I do not know if they would work again with a different rom

Now I apologize because I have to leave for the moment, because I really have to go to sleep, even if i am very interested in this argument, both for my personal interest of course, but also because I would be really happy if I could be of help in any way, perhaps to see implemented a stable call function on P1! Unfortunately, here in Italy are already 3:30 at night (while I think they are 20:30 in the USA) ... I've waited the night to find someone on the forum, but now it's really late
I don't forget to thank You Randy, for your interest and for your time, and i try to be here tomorrow with news and maybe waiting for some other user feedback on phone calls on P1 3G !
Goodnight to all of You !

I'm mobile tonight...but in the morning I will open the system on this ROM and verify that those apps are there. I'm pretty sure they are, since I did not remove them...but I will check, anyway.

Hello to everyone! Today I did not find feedback from other users on the net, about the presence or absence of the calling capabilities on P1 3G. So I didn't even have any feedback on the possible call quality, which on my device is veeeery poor! So, I can not ask anyone if this feature is present in all the stock rom, just some, or ...just my ! On the net, unfortunately, there are 90% comments and reviews on P1 only without 3G

Hi to everyone! Has anyone tested in these days the 3G version of the RileyRom, if the Phone and Messages app are there, and eventually some feedback on the call quality ?
I've encountered the first problems and some glitches with my stock rom on the P1...

First, at completely random times, when i'm watching a video, browsing, or gaming, this message pop up on the screen (the process com.android.systemui has stopped)

i tap "ok", then it took me to the lock screen and after unlock, it took me again at the app i'm using at the moment the message popped out.

Second, with the Chrome browser i've installed... almost every time i tap the screen for an internet link, a new tab, or refreshing a page, all around the screen there's a red frame flashing for a while (here's a screenshot that i was able to catch in the moment it flashes)

this could be a problem of the Chrome app (but i've never experienced it in other devices) and not seems negatively affecting the browsing experience, or slow it.... but is simply annoying and esthetically unpleasant !

So, if i have some positive feedback for the presence of the phone apps in the last firmware update, i can proceed flashing the rom for my first time , sure that Riley's work will be much better than the original Pipo rom !
I thank everyone can help me in advance, and remain in hopeful waiting

                  Hi mate,
I don't have the problem on my 3g version (with systemui stopped responding). Currently running RileyROM 1.5 (want to switch to 1.6 sometime... but not really a big update as I was informed).
So -- rock solid for me.

Regarding phone and sms apk - they are there... haven't tested them but the dialpad pops up correctly etc. (have had no time to buy a separate data sim, currently I don't need it).

Regarding chrome -- can't verify since I don't use this browser.

I have these exact problems since day 0 with stock rom and with riley rom. So this is not the point.

                      Hi guys,
I really thanks PrEzi and alextgd for the feedback ... Now i will try to flash the RileyRom 1.6 on my P1, as soon as I can have in my hands a pc with windows Seven (because I have Vista, and I noticed that there are no P1 drivers for Vista, but only for Xp, 7 and 8)... And in this regard I ask if is better to flash with Windows XP, 7 or 8, or if there are no differences between these OS ??

I also have a question about power consumption:
reading various threads, i've understand that's a common problem the high battery consumption in standby (i have an 1 "and something" % per hour, reminding that i'm on the stock rom for the moment), and i've tried to put the system in "Airplane Mode", to see if can help reducing the battery consumption.

But I found another type of abnormal behavior, never seen in my previous Android devices ...
When, for example, I turn OFF the tablet before going to sleep, and the next day I turn it on (maybe in the afternoon, when they are passed a lot of hours), I notice that the battery has dropped by 3-5 percentage points - I've never seen another device that consumed battery when is completely turned off, and i can not figure out what the reason is.
Has anyone encountered the same problem ?

As soon as i can flash RileyRom, I'll see if i'm lucky , and the systemui "freeze" and Chrome glitch problems will go away, otherwise maybe they are related to somewhat else, like alextgd said in his comment.

I apologize if my questions are trivial, but I'm trying to understand as much as possible ... I Thank you all for your patience, and I will try to give back my help as my personal experience increase!

The XP drivers should work on Vista.

This is the first I've heard of battery drain when the tablet off. It makes me question the accuracy of battery data.

It is really strange... For instance i upload a screenshot, showing 2 moments when i turn off the tab and i've had the battery drop... In Yellow i've marked a drop of 2-3 % , and in Red another one, and this time was about 8-10 %
In both cases, the pad was turned off for approximately 7 to 9 hours, so i don't think there is a real correlation between percentage drop and hours turned off....
Maybe i will check more several times to have more data to look at... But maybe, as you stated Randy, (if i've understand correctly) there's something wrong in the operating system, reading the battery statistics.

Thanks for the suggestion gaetanolip, so I ask you if there is an option to "freeze" the apps in the stock menu, or you intend to use apps like "greenify"' that (if i've not misunderstood), lets you block the apps you select and prevents them to work and consume power ?
...And ok Randy, we are waiting for your feedback !
