    Don't do the above change...it doesn't work.

Try turning off developer options. It worked for me.

      Btw...I don't have a 3g version, so I can't test your other question.

After you turn off developer settings and play around with Chrome...and the red frame is gone...you can go back and turn on developer options again.

Btw my version is wifi too and i have the same problems. Im testing disable developers, let me see.

My question is if the red frame is related to systemui crashes or is other thing.

All the red frame is for it to let the developer know, during testing, when there is extreme cpu/gpu usage (in a nutshell). Sometimes, the version of the firmware I get is a test version with this setting turned on. Until now, I didn't know how to fix it...nor had I ever paid attention to what it was for. It's supposed to do it on other apps but I've only seen it on Chrome.

I'm thinking about turning developer settings off by default on my ROM's, so the user has to activate it if they want to use it. That will prevent the red frame from appearing in the future.

Further Riley Pipo P1 Wifi 1.6 updates from a few weeks use...

So far on Pipo P1 - Riley Rom 1.6:

                  - Battery - Very good, no exact figures, but got many hours out of a full battery (I noted my brightness is at about 20% though and still very visible - full 100% is nearly blinding!

                  - Wifi - No Issues on picking up normal or tethered wlan.
                  - Bluetooth - fine to pair with my GS5

                  - 35027 on Antutu (5) (which showed CPU(multithread) 1800MHz (x4) - not sure what the 1400 issue lock was? (UX - MultiTask of 6020 and Runtime of 1895)

                  - Some App shutdowns, but nothing too frequent
                  - Definately some lag when starting facebook/youtube videos - my kids who have an IPad are the judge of how bad (iPad just works flawlessly for them!) - They reckon definitely lag.
                  - Rotation of screen is a little laggy, on some apps does not work at all at times (and not software restriction)
                  - Multi window appears ok (still yet to see how this works (some app crashes on this but may be app related)
                  - Speakers - Awful - just as bad as the Pipo M6 (For goodness sake Pipo, my shoe sounds better !)
                  - Headphones work fine
                  - Power adaptor (9v works fine) - not 30 seconds power on tricks on this thread.
                  - 12 GB space parameter working fine as i move to storage on extended SD (thanks to Titanium Backuo)
                  - Multi Profile new account creation caused reboot! After it came back it works and a new user added with own workspace/launcher etc etc.
                  - Youtube - did see some colour striping (more like total giverish for video i.e. scrambled video at times, but did play when stabilized - i.e. closed apps etc.)
                  - Have played youtube and facebook videos in their respective apps however...
                  - GPS/Wifi etc appeared to find location fine
                  - Tethering worked fine to my GS5
                  - Security - no problem adding pin code etc.

Overall, very stable once got passed the initial power issues. Great job Riley, hope this review helps.

So some further notes on the P1 following further pay with it on Riley's 1.6 WIFI ROM:

                  - I too noticed the red box and guessed it was developer tools related, but it's not a big issue (usually chrome is the main flagger)
                  - Battery life still seems good for me. Even when fully shutdown, I never experienced the PIPO 30 second(x2) power-on requirement again after I did it the first time.
                  - Video works on most things, you tube, cnn, ustream etc.
                  - I have had many lag issues, I'm not sure if they are my "Go Launcher" related or not, but at times I need to leave the tablet for up to 3 minutes before it catches back up with itself (with maybe only 3 apparent apps open (did not check services) - mind you I have a lot of apps installed but on sd card)
                  - Speakers are a killer, anyone ever think of replacing them - how easy it would be (compared to Ipad they are terrible) ?
                  - Touch screen can lag behind, my kids notice when playing games (touch and jump happens later)
                  - Rotation issues exist, that can get you dizzy!
                  - lag on the 2 drop down op of screen) menus occurs all the time, not sharp (have not been able to determine specific cause), but appears that incoming emails etc, upon wifi connection freeze everything else (menus, apps, etc.).
                  - No forced reboots that I can recall in normal use (note: see notes below for todays specials)
                  - Camera app is pants... Just cannot handle taking the images (lag, shuts down etc.). Colours are very badly reproduced (even in showroom lighting).
                  - Choosing Google "OK Google etc." voice recognition takes a few seconds to kick in (with no apparent feedback at times from the touched button)
                  - Choosing the open apps button (2 overlapping squares soft button) can take a while to load the apps into the listed display (even with 3-4 apps only open)
                  - Android Kindle experience is nice to view books on in this tab - quiet responsive (though It appears to have no highlighting etc...) ;p(
                  - MultiWindow is very non intuitive to use and has large lag issues (I should say "lock issues") when trying to select an active app from the currently open apps selector when muli window is open.... Actually, there we go, my first force reboot! (sorry Riley!) ;p)
                  - After some experimentation, I got to put 2 youtube, ustream, zinio and yahoo mail in 4 panes together. I was surprised to see both youtube and zinio play (including sound) together. Soon after some interactivity with the central toggle circle I got my second force reboot of the day. Multi window could see home icons scroll through some of the panes from the main screen (a bit buggy there). When it locks in multi window, you can be nearly sure a reboot is coming! - Experimental at best...

I tried to see if there was any new English ROM upgrades from Pipo, but could not see the P1 roms in the english rom section (though it was early morning and I have been known to have a quite large blind spot!)

Hi guys, I have problems with installing drivers on XP. I clicked "Switch" to switch tablet to bootloader mode. Then new hardware was found, as described in pdf. I chose to install from my own location, selected rk3188-32bit-xp\xp. Unfortunately, drivers was not installed (error message). So I tried to select Update driver from device manager and select the same drivers again but still no success.

                    What's wrong?

                      un-bricking success with Pipo P1

                      Hiya
Been a long time since I've posted on this thread.

Thanks as ever to Riley for this rom.

I just thought I'd share my unbricking success with ya'll. FYI I am using a Windows 7 laptop with the original Pipo provided USB cable and power charger. My Pipo P1 has 32GB.

Having flashed another Rom (OMA), over RileyRom 1.5.1 I'd succeeded in bricking my tablet. It appeared to run initially but ran down overnight and I had the much noted power up/apparent brick issue written about in the early pages of this thread.

I left it charging, and this didn't appear to work, (as is widely documented), and following advice on this thread I tried the 30 second, 30 second power button hold trick and nothing. Tried resetting the tablet via the pin hole and charging - nothing!

Tried plugging in the tablet via USB and running the Android flash tool in the Rileyrom 1.6 download, and holding down volume up and power button to get it into flash mode. No device found message.

I gave up for a few days thinking I'd have to attempt and getting a refund or even opening it up to attempt a pin short, (worked with my Pipo m9).

This morning I decided to try again. This time I pressed the reset button on the back, (using a pin). I plugged the usb cable into the tablet and laptop, ran the android tool and held the volume up and power button. To my delight the 'Found device' message popped up.

I let go of the buttons (as is the norm), and the No device found message popped up. Dismayed, I held the volume and power button down again, and to my relief the device was found. I kept them held down but after 5 seconds, still held, the no device found message popped up. I let go, then held them both again, and as soon as the found device message popped up I hit low level format on the android flash tool. After this worked, with the buttons still pressed the no device found message popped up again. I pressed both buttons again, and with device found I clicked on the run button. It started to flash but then after the 5 second period, the device was lost again and flash failed.
I release and pressed the buttons again, hit run and let go of the buttons immediately, and to my surprise the device found message stayed on screen and the rom flashed successfully. On booting into Android I had a full battery indicator. I then followed Riley's instructions to flash the TWRP recovery and that worked.

Upshot is I now have a working tab with RileyRom 1.6.

                      So, to summarise:

Press reset on back of tablet
Plug in tablet via usb to a windows laptop, (pref XP or Win7)
                      Load Android flash tool
Hold down volume up button and then and power button, so both are held
Wait for found device message on the android flash tool notification
Click the lower format button within 5 seconds and once done, release the buttons
Hold down volume up and power buttons once more and click run, the flash with start but fail after 5 seconds.
Release the buttons then hold them down again and click run again, and as soon as the flashing starts, after 2 seconds release the buttons. It should flash the device.

Then just follow the TWRP recovery instructions from the first post in this thread.

                      cheers

tnx for this custom rom for pipo p1, so far so good smoother than stock rom but when playing clash of clans the tablet is hotter than the stock rom maybe bec. of the core tweaks? is there a app that can control the cpu for our p1? and also i cant boot into recovery mode. i try to manually install the recovery.img but still no success. i choose parameter6 in the flash rom.

@Blyx21 Are you intending to install the TWRP recovery image? It worked for me following the instructions at the bottom of Riley's first post in the thread. So long as you have already flashed the rom, and then gone in again using the android flash tool Riley provides in the rom, that you aren't formatting (erasing IDB or lowerformatting), and have the recovery tick box checked only and with the directory pointing towards the TWRP image, it should work.

There are apps out their that allow you to change the CPU frequency. Pimpmyrom for example has the facility. Correct me if I am wrong.

                          cheers

I flashed this last week and bricked my tablet. I managed to unbrick as detailed in my earlier post and have reflashed RileyRom 1.6 which I am curently running.

Read the whole thread for OMA's rom as there are updates. OMA roms are great too. Just be careful and ensure you are flashing the rom with the kernel that has the flashlight fix as detailed.

If you do brick, then come back to this thread and read the fix that worked for me, as well as other posters who have successfully found ways to unbrick theirs.

                              cheers
