    You might also try combinations:
    - Unplug the charger when you long press power button. Do NOT have it plugged into the tab.
    - Also try with combinations of long pressning vol + (or if it is vol -, can't remember) and power button. If you end up with the Android picture, just long press power off and long press power on.

Hope some of the above starts your tablet again!!!

If you drain the battery, or attempt to use an incorrect charger, it will fry this circuit. Then you are bricked. The device has to be sent back.

I know that everyone wants a tablet you can leave on and rely on the deep sleep feature to keep you going. I've tried just about every trick in the book to get actual deep sleep to work as it is supposed to...short of rewriting the kernel. I hope to have kernel sources soon to try our hand at deep sleep.

I ALWAYS turn my tablet off...or plug it in to the charger when not in use. In fact as I'm typing right now, the tab is plugged in here at my desk with 100% power.

This problem is a new entry of new models, I suppose this is due to low quality VRM, and I think Pipo could fix it with a future mainboard revision.

Draining out Pipo P1 and restart it.

I'm testing a complete drain out of battery on my Pipo P1, since this has become a serious issue for many. I will try to recreate the same as you and see if my tablet also can get bricked.

2014-09-13, 19.10: Pipo P1 is now completely drained out of battery juice. I try to restart with long press power button and it shows Pipo logo for a second and turns of again. Let's wait some more.

2014-09-13, 19.19: Not completely drained out. I tried again and now it made a complete load of Pipo and Riley ROM 1.5 for a few seconds. Let's wait some more.
Hm, I was about to install Riley ROM 1.6 today{read: happy], but decided to try and brick it instead.

2014-09-13, 19.26: Now loading and shows Pipo logo and ROM 1.5 logo and then turns off.

2014-09-13, 20.55: Same as before, loading for 1 sec and shows Pipo logo and ROM 1.5 logo and back to black. I will wait and not charge it. I want it to be 100% non-responsive and no logo shown when I press power button. So, we have to wait...

2014-09-13, 21.22: Long pressing power button for more than 30 - 60 seconds and nothing happens. I will wait and not charge it.

2014-09-13, 21.40: Long pressing power button for more than 30 - 60 seconds and nothings happens. Long pressing and all combinations of volume + and - buttons give no result. I think it is drained out now. I will start to charge it.

2014-09-13, 21:46: Plugged in with the original charger, same as the one that came with Pipo P1. One observation, nothing indicates that it is charging. Now just wait..

2014-09-13, 22:05: Still charging and I will just wait.

2014-09-13, 22:29: Wait a few more minutes until I get my hands on it.

2014-09-13, 22:41: I will try to get it back in a few minutes ...wait...

2014-09-13, 22:47: The plan is to try the following:

        1. Plugged-in to charger and long press power button for 30 seconds.
        Result: Nothing happens, bricked?

        2. Plugged-in to charger and long press vol + and power button for 30 seconds..
        Result: Nothing happens, bricked?

        3. Plugged-in to charger and long press vol - and power button.
        Result: Nothing happens, bricked?

4 Unplug charger and and long press power button for 30 seconds.
Result: Long press power button and it loads, show Pipo P1 and ROM animation and then back to black.

5.Unplug charger and and short press power button. Release it when ROM animation is loaded.
Result: eeh, hmm, it started nicely. It was not what I experienced before. I had to struggle much, much more ...with combinations of long press power and volume buttons.

I will test again tomorrow and let it drain out during the night.

        2014-09-13, 23:09: Good night!

2014-09-14, 08:43: I managed to drain battery out again. The tab is now completely unresponsive. Long press power button and nothing happens.

        2014-09-14, 08:50: I will charge it for about 10 minutes and then try 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 above.

2014-09-14, 09:00: This is the result:

        1. Same as above.

        2. Same as above.

        3. Same as above.

        4. Unplug charger and long press power button and nothing happens. This is interesting and not the same as above. I tried a second time and now Pipo logo is shown for a second and then it turns off again. I tried a third and forth time it starts and reports 6% remaining battery.

Summary: For me it works fine to get it started also after completly empty the battery. Also consider:
        - Better to keep it charged.
        - Use the original charger.
        - Always restart the tab with charger unplugged.
Let me know if you can think of any other test scenario.

Hello, what are the new features with the 1.6 Rom ?

I've installed the 1.5.1 with the multi-user mode but it didn't work.
I was able to create a guest user but when I attempted to use it, I add a black screen and had to reboot.
            Is it fixed ?

            And thanks for your work

That's interesting. Multi-User worked just fine for me on both ROM's. So I have not changed anything in that area.

For me, both the 1.5.1 and 1.6 are working in multiuser-mode. 1.6 seems to improve compatibility with some games.

OMG! - Your a true hero, and your battery trick was worth every second.... The key as I see (but completely credited to your permutation patience ;-0 ) :

                  - UNPLUG TABLET from power
                  - 30 seconds hold
                  - start another 30 hold and it turns on
(mine was at 38% and charging indicator......just checked again and at 41%, so looking good)

Fab stuff - thanks a bundle. Now to try Reilly's Rom if I can get a windows machine from somewhere (I really wish I could do with OSX - I believe there is a way, but I am not experienced with it) ;p)

my only pain is that my Pipo M6 power issue could have been this same thing (before I sacrificed it!)

                  Thank again jlunse...

I'm glad you guys got the battery thing figured out.

I mention this from time to time when people question the need to flash via PC:

I could very well make update.zip's flashable through custom recovery...but that method has it's limitations.

One of my ROM features is to increase the user app space...allowing you to install more/bigger apps. This requires that you flash a different parameter file and recovery has to reformat the whole tablet to change the sizes of the partitions. It is impossible to adjust partition sizes with an update.zip. I always recommend flashing stock recovery the first time, and adding TWRP recovery by itself after the first boot is complete so stock recovery can format the cache/data partitions correctly.

On some ROM's, I've included a CWM/TWRP flashable template you can use to make your own update.zip. The reason for this is simple. I can't justify taking up space on our server for two versions of every ROM, when you can easily make the zip file yourself. I've done literally hundreds of ROM's...and they all reside on our FTP server...doubling them up with PC Flash and TWRP flash versions would be a logistical nightmare.

So, the first time you flash a RileyROM...if you change the user app space...you MUST use a PC to flash. If you decide to keep the same app space on subsequent ROM updates, you can use the CWM template to flash the ROM.

One caution...I haven't tested this template on a KitKat or an RK3288 ROM. There may need to be some adjustments for it to work properly.

                      Hey Riley,

Great work, I got the 1.6 installed and TWRP also and worked to update Super User via TWRP. I see the template and will try this for future 1.6 + ROM updates now that I extended the partitions on first flash.

I must say, 1.6 boots so fast and recovers so fast. TWRP file manager and other goodies make this so much easier than the experiece I had on the Pipo M6.

Just need to figure how to batch install all "My Apps" from Google play store! ;p)

                      Top Marks again Riley.

There's several ways to do this.

There is a thread of FT that goes over how to backup your whole userdata partition and use the flashtool or cwm to install it. But it generate an image file that is the size of your partition...so it takes forever.

I use Titanium...its quicker and more reliable.

                          Re: Pipo P1 RileyROM 1.6 [RK3288]

So far I am loving my P1. However, a couple of games are giving me issues. Groove Racer never gets past the initial start up screen. Disney's Castle of Illusion will load and show the video previews, but when I attempt to start the game the only thing showing on the screen are the software controllers for the game and nothing more. Can't see the characters to play the game. I just want to see if anyone else is experiencing these issues with these games or is it just my installation of RR 1.6 that'd the issue. Thanks.

EDIT: Groove Racer is now working. Must have needed a reboot. Castle of Illusion is still an issue.

Yes Did that in the end:

So far on Pipo P1 - Riley Rom 1.6:

                            - Battery - Very good, no exact figures, but got many hours out of a full battery (I noted my brightness is at about 20% though and still very visible - full 100% is nearly blinding!

                            - Wifi - No Issues on picking up normal or tethered wlan.
                            - Bluetooth - fine to pair with my GS5

                            - 35027 on Antutu (5) (which showed CPU(multithread) 1800MHz (x4) - not sure what the 1400 issue lock was? (UX - MultiTask of 6020 and Runtime of 1895)

                            - Some App shutdowns, but nothing too frequent
                            - Definately some lag when starting facebook/youtube videos - my kids who have an IPad are the judge of how bad (iPad just works flawlessly for them!) - They reckon definitely lag.
                            - Rotation of screen is a little laggy, on some apps does not work at all at times (and not software restriction)
                            - Multi window appears ok (still yet to see how this works (some app crashes on this but may be app related)
                            - Speakers - Awful - just as bad as the Pipo M6 (For goodness sake Pipo, my shoe sounds better !)
                            - Headphones work fine
                            - Power adaptor (9v works fine) - not 30 seconds power on tricks on this thread.
                            - 12 GB space parameter working fine as i move to storage on extended SD (thanks to Titanium Backuo)
                            - Multi Profile new account creation caused reboot! After it came back it works and a new user added with own workspace/launcher etc etc.
                            - Youtube - did see some colour striping (more like total giverish for video i.e. scrambled video at times, but did play when stabilized - i.e. closed apps etc.)
                            - Have played youtube and facebook videos in their respective apps however...
                            - GPS/Wifi etc appeared to find location fine
                            - Tethering worked fine to my GS5
                            - Security - no problem adding pin code etc.

Overall, very stable once got passed the initial power issues. Great job Riley, hope this review helps.
