I take it you need to do this because you are having problems erasing the IDB ? If so, have you tried erasing with Androidtool v2.1? (This is "ROM_Dumper_Tool.exe" which comes with rk_tool21_how_to.zip ) . The EraseFlash function under the "Upgrade Firmware" tab seems to erase the IDB differently, in a way sending it straight to Mask Rom mode. I'm wondering if you try this you may not need to short the pins.
