    Pipo P1 RileyROM 1.8

This ROM is based on official Pipo firmware posted on 11-24-14. While it's a recent posting, it turns out that this ROM contains kernel #528, which is older than the #537 kernel in RileyROM v1.7. I'm not sure why Pipo posted an older firmware...but here it is for you to try and see if it's any better than v1.7.

    This ROM is:

    Rooted
    Debloated
    English as default language
    init.d support added
    Busybox commands added
Multi-User support added without the need for Xposed Framework
    Google Play Store fixes added
    Reboot app by Petrus
Your choice of 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12gb user app space (select the parameter file you want to flash) The default is 6gb
Optional TWRP Recovery included in the RileyROM folder, thanks to Abdul_pt (flash TWRP after the first boot with stock recovery).

Thanks to Geekbuying.com for providing me this and many other Pipo tablets to develop.

The RK3288 firmware prevents me from auto installing TWRP Recovery, so you will need to do it manually. I recommend that you first flash stock recovery with the whole ROM. After first boot, you can then install TWRP Recovery by itself, by running the flash tool, and un-checking everything except recovery.img. Browse to the TWRP file in the RileyROM folder of the ROM kit by clicking on the box to the right of the recovery line in the flash tool. DO NOT ERASE IDB a second time...just "switch" to flash mode and flash the TWRP recovery image.

    Download wifi version
    Download 3G version

TWRP Recovery (Works on either ROM)

    Enjoy!!!!

Please.....Don't forget to donate....this helps me continue further ROM development.

OH, BTW...I haven't ignored the request for a larger system.img partition...I'm still working on it.

It seems that whenever I try to change the required parameter settings...my tablet won't boot. I've asked my trusty mentor (900supersport) to help me solve this puzzle. The same techniques I've used all along with the RK3188 ROM's don't work on these RK3288 devices for some strange reason. I'm not big on solving math puzzles...so I'm asking for a little help with this one.

Randy, do you know from your contacts inside Pipo , if they already working on a Lollipop build for our Pipo P1? Coz KitKat build it's good enough..

I haven't heard mention of Lollipop development from Pipo. That doesn't mean they aren't thinking about it...but their primary focus is on Windows based tablets right now.

              Hi.

I installed rom 1.8 two days ago.
For me, it works like a charm, better than 1.7, wich laggued a lot.
I appreciate a lot that you can choose the partition size for apps.

By the way, why is it necessary to have a spécific partition for aps ?
I own a One +1, and there is no limit, you can install apps up to ...64 Go... The full size of the memory.

Coming back to 1.8, there is for me stil an issue, that was present in the different roms i tried (1.5, 1.7 and 1.8), a crash of the launcher when hidding system bar in an app.
I own a P9 to, and the problem is the same.
I use Google now launcher, and when i hide system bar in any app, tablet crashes and leads me to the welcome screen you have to unlock. The app still runs.

Once i know i mustn't hide the bar, the rest is perfect.
              Again, thank you Riley.
              Serge.

I haven't experienced that problem using Apex Launcher...you might try it.

It crashes with Nova launcher also, but not always just when manually hiding from some app (ex. BS Player).

Also I wanted to ask about my update procedure:

                  1. Backup all app+data with titanium backup to external usb HD.
                  2. Backup all data from nand partition (long time since its full of videos)
                  3. Update rom
                  4. Install titanium backup
                  5. Restore all app+data (reboot)
                  6. Restore all data to nand partition (reboot)

is it ok or is there a better quicker way?
                  Thanx.

On #5 use "Restore Missing Apps with Data". That way you don't overwrite any new system files that were changed from the previous ROM.

You really won't know...unless some system apps start to act up. If everything is working...that's OK...rock on. I just do it that way as a precaution. It solved a problem for me a long time ago on an older tablet to only restore apps that weren't already system apps.

As Randy said --- restore ONLY userdata/user-apps... Systemdata/apps is strongly _not recommended_ and nearly always (if there are differences in the systemapp versions) will lead to problems. Even restoring only the settings for the systemapps can sometimes lead to problems.

I did it again to check this procedure, but!

After "Restore Missing Apps with data" there was no any accounts data.
Restored again "green" data files (accounts, wifi connections and passwords etc).
Got my accounts back (had to manually sync them again) but could not update anything on Google play.
Had to remove Google account and add it again and updates work.

Is there something I missed at restore procedure?
