I jumped right into the beta testing water. Figured we needed more feed back on this sync issue.
This was my first PC flash method using Bobs Flash Tool RKAndroidTool v1.35. I was a little concerned that I might brick my device. But it all went well thanks to Bob instructions and that reboot app that lets us reboot into bootloader mode. So here are my results...
The first ROM... SystemBETA2a.img
Is very close to being in perfect sync.
I used the stock vid player and played 15 various mkv's, avi's, wmv's, 720p, 1080p, ect..
The improvement in all file formats was near perfect.
Meaning some were dead on while others were 40ms off.
I also tried the test sync avi file and that result showed the sync out at only 40ms.
Meaning it is very close to perfect sync. Youtube played perfect.
Second ROM... SystemBETA2b.img
All movies mention above I retested with this ROM and were PERFECT.
Perfect sync... YES, finally we have a winner.
I also tested streaming my PLEX app of movies from my server. Perfect play back in sync.
WOW amazing work Bob.
The sync test avi video( blinkin white box and beeps) was in perfect sync at 0 mark.
But I noted it also was in sync at the 40ms mark as well?
This is a keeper in my testing results.
Well done Bob
Thanks

Their was some slight glitches in some movie play back.
Random shutters but nothing crazy. Small ms shutters on some movies.
Also had the system drop out, power off, or sleep. Not sure what you call it.
Not during movie play back but at idle, on the home screen. Like an auto shut down, weird.
This happened 5 times over the hour and a half I was testing the second ROM-b.
EDIT... this was due to display setting to sleep after 5 minutes of no activity.
Not a problem or bug.
I know this is beta version and this is expected. But I just wanted to note it.
Antutu bench mark was scored at 6530. Around the same as before.
Gota get some sleep now... eyes closing. Totally happy we made progress.
Thanks again BobLast edited by userx; 21 October 2012, 07:04.

lol it's funny, you on US go to sleep now and it is here in europe now 15:20 hehe
Well i know it sounda like childish but forget it..
I tested the beta b rom now and it seems like sync is perfect but i realise a minimal out of sync, sth. like 40 or 60 ms ..
It's very hard to say this exactly.. but i think the sound comes at first and estimated 40ms later comes the video picture..
But it's much better than before!
Thanks Bob!

just a very short sign of life from me.
performance of android base seems to be way better than with original base!!! only can test versions with virtual keyboard... sync is perfect when streaming youtube through browser in desktop view and @ hd 1080. in youtube app its still little out of sync - could be app as well... when opening flash stream in fullscreen, screen stays blank and browser gets stuck (need to force close in settings -> apps). in android browser and opera browser... of course beta glitch i guess.
the big BUT: stick is displaying @720 and not 1080, so not sure if sync problem will be solved as long as native output isnt 1080, than would could compare to original rom!?
will have enough spare time for the rest of the day/night in about 3-4hrs. hopefully we can push testing a little bit further then? :-)
cya later!

I just noticed that 1280x720. I think Bob did that for a reason on this beta test.
But your right its not truly displaying the correct resolution even if you set it at 1920x1080p.
Dam just had another system shut down. Or auto sleep, not sure what going on with that.
Well I don't think this ROM is very stable to use beyond our testing.
For the purpose of testing it is near perfect on the sync issue in my tests.
Just tested flash in a web browser... not stable. Videos crash in full screen. Beta bug.
Very unstable as expected. Can't really test flash content with this rom version b.
I going to switch back to beta A version.Last edited by userx; 21 October 2012, 00:50.

All with the same results. Beta-b version Rom is dropping out for some mysterious reason.
EDIT...
Found the reason it was cutting out. Display setting was set up for SLEEP mode.
After 5 minutes of inactivity it went to sleep.

Beta II test
My experience:
Sync much better, but still sound is 40ms too late
tested with HD movie.
sync test movie
Resolution was 1920x1080
The weird 'clicks' are gone
image still too dark and over saturated
didn't have network, only internet
right mouse doesn't works
you are on the right track, great job!

Both versions (no matter what player) give me a consistent 40ms lag (which is pretty watchable), wifi is good (but I've never experienced problems). Aside from the whole sync story, I must say I actually like version A very much: the cursor is much more elegant, I actually like the fact the on-screen keyboard isn't working (i have an air mouse with built-in keyboard - which works), and I see no artifacts whatsoever. I even went from version A to B, but I switched back to version A again !

Any chance of supporting other resolutions i.e. computer monitor (e.g. 1960x1200)?
Also, have you tried the BQ Edison RK3066 sources?

After more testing of both Roms. I am drawing to a conclusion.
I have to agree with Harry that both versions have off sync at 40ms.
This might be the best Bob can tweak it. Or maybe he has a few more tricks to try?
But for now I think this is pretty dam good improvement over the shipped version.
