Ainol Windows 8.1 Mini PC Intel Z3735D

There are a lot of Intel Bay Trail based mini PCs out there, and there are a lot more to come. Most of them use the Intel Z3735F processor, while PiPo X7 uses the slightly faster Intel Z3736F processor.

Ainol Windows 8.1 Mini PC deserves a separate thread, because it uses the Intel Z3735D processor which has native USB 3.0 support.

The USB 3.0 port will probably offer the possibility to exploit the full potential of Gigabit Ethernet adapters, mechanical hard drives and USB 3.0 Flash Drives, which could be important especially in the case this device would be also used as a NAS.

PROS: USB 3.0 port, built-in 7000mAh battery, elegant design.
CONS: Probably inadequate cooling due to design, lack of Ethernet port.

Since adding a USB 3.0 Hub and a Gigabit Ethernet adapter will increase the total price considerably, I think that PiPo X7 with a custom heat sink and a price close to US $100 probably remains the best choice overall.

It will be nice to find out more information about Ainol Windows 8.1 Mini PC and its performance when it will be generally available and thoroughly tested.

Seems overkill for a charger... sorry
Ainol Win8 Mini PC TV Box uses a 64 bit Intel Bay Trail-T Z3735D quad core CPU, pre-installs original Windows 8.1 operation system, with 2GB DDR3L RAM and 32GB Emmc ROM, supports Bluetooth 4.0 and wifi. It comes with a USB 3.0 interface

2mm more height than a VOYO.

          Intel Z3735D

also only supports max 2GB RAM....

But, if I don't misunderstand "Aluminium alloy", maybe better cooling mod solutions (via thermal pads) than the VOYO...
So it could be a nice toy...

          What's about the BIOS? I bet 32bit...

my guess is they decided to RUSH these out to market.. no dobut a whole bunch of 'em sat on the west coast USA during the west coast port strike! this comes as many tablet companies are looking to go where the demand is (away from android).. and because google's android/linux OS isn't evolving fast enough (many days lat ver 5.0 and a few hundred features short) x86 pc's have a window of opportunity with TV-HD/UHD PC (versus the old PCTV) boxes as consumers figure out how to deal with their cable companies screwing them.

I think these specs would be reasonable for under $200
2.5ghz quad core + gpu with 1gb gddr 5 onboard and can share
4gb ram (for $10 more they can make the design to support laptop so-dimms x2 @16gb max)
              64gb (128gb, 256gb respectively in 2016)
              5v 3a /12v 5a switchable (support & power nas)
              hdmi in/out x2 (auto & 4k support @ 60frame 240hz)
attachable cooling solution (moving or not) accessory
              4 usb 3 ports
              802.11ac
              bt 4
              SD latest spec
gigabit ethernet port (aka google fiber ready )))

All this and a pathway for upgrading to windows 10... that's worth btw $100 and $200

Apart from the USB 3 port and built in battery/charger, I noticed one other potential advantage of the Z3725D over the Z3735F.

The maximum CPU temp allowed is 105C instead of 90C, which, bearing in mind the cooling issues that too many of these seem to exhibit, may be have advantage in terms of box longevity.

Yes could be good news just checked the Intel www mentions 105 in the chart I read but as you say
a higher melting point has to be good

Think I am going to need a can open I feel to get inside this compact device.

This is a very compact and solid unit. Using the Intel Z3735D others are using the Z3735F
Both CPU’s much the same tho according to Intel, D model has a higher Tjmax @105c and 7F is @90c so you can ride this one 15 degrees more before it will melt, In theory. I recall most of the CMOS have settings set to about 90c.

Device running couple of hours doing updates, much the same as other units,
WIFI speed good. Ainol is using realtek chipset for WIFI/BT.

Stressed tested for 20 minutes Using Aida64 the Outer case is warm only, Temps in the 60c, Startup Temp around 40~45c.

Power Pack supplied one of the smallest DC pins I have seen in awhile for a device like this no chance of plugging the wrong plug into this Device

24 hours is over and I must say this little unit is equal I find to all the others.
After many hours of usage the Tightly Packed Tin Can is warm and that's about it
Temps hover in the 50~60 and it keeps on going.

The battery is great, ideal for portable use 7 hours and still just under 20% to go

I have done all the backups and configuring as seen in the VOYO or PIPO thread,
Also removed the Chinese Language so its now all English, have the Safe mode
menu in place so looking good. The Ainol also had its own Boot Logo but i like to see what is going on when booting easily disable this feature in CMOS.

The Unit does not come with the USB3/OTG port may need something like
