Ainol for its neat compact solid size. good for mounting anyplace you like and not a lot heat as others.
Performance wise they're all much of a muchness.
Any higher as price and you are getting into the Intel NUC area,
For the price of these cheaper devices a good way to cut you teeth on WIN8 and Intel.

my ainol has arrived and its probably defective:
it looks used, with scratches and hits on the panel stickers. the port seems to be used and looks old. the sd port cant handle my sd card. and the pc cant recognize my 1TB HD. and it was not well packaged.
        very disappointed.

          Mine delivered today.

          It's absolutely brand new.

They had a bunch of crap settings already. Like someone ghosted the OS from another machine.

Getting all the Chinese off was easy. Waiting for updates to finish. So far, really early, but so far so good!

Where did you buy from geekbuyer?

Mine came from geekbuying via DHL and it was opened an taped shut with "inspected" tape. My device was well packed and totally new as far as I could tell.

                from geekbuying.

from the beginning the package looked bad. only one thin bubble wrap layer. the box was really free in the package.
                and its 100% used.

can u plug in micro sd into the TF slot and say if it handle the card?

So after messing around with it for a few hours here's some things I've found.

No video output to an older TV via HDMI. Why?

Bunch of junk in folders such as a Katie Perry music video in the public videos folder. Also an Mp3 of unknown origin.

Numerous wireless networks in settings that I have deleted. Also unrecognized networked media devices.

Most of this relates to my presumption that the OS has been ghosted from another machine. For instance there was no welcome screen on first boot or new account setup. Booted straight to the tiles interface on first go.

Also I tried Netflix, works fine, Hulu Plus, works fine, and Plex media via Chrome, also works fine.

Popcorn time is choppy. I may enter the BIOS and attempt the fixes I read about in the Pipo X7 section.

So far my biggest disappointment is this doesn't work on my TV in my bedroom. Whic has worked with every Android box I have ever tried with it. Also working with a Chromecast.

One last mention, after Window's updates finished, I was prompted of a shutdown to reformat internal memory or something. Which happened on its own and seemed to not affect the PC at all.

I haven't tried the sd card slot yet nor have I tried the USB 3.0 port. I did get an adapter for it. I will try an external hard drive with it eventually.

Battery is fully charged. I may take it with me to work tomorrow and see if it works in various monitors and other HDMI inputs.

The junk as you made mention in an earlier post is likely form an image dump, I had the same files.
Monitor could be (long shot)the quality of the HDMI connector used, as some have experienced with both PiPo and Voyo,
Have you updated the HD Graphics from Intel. may help or hinder.
                            What model TV is it
                            Cheers

Thanks Trebor. I will have to check about the TV brand and model when I get home.

The Katie Perry video made me chuckle though. That's what they watch at the Ainol factory I guess?!

                                TV is a Toshiba 32av502r.

I've tried different HDMI cables. Factory reset the TV. Nothing...
