Yes my 1G MXIII is also stuck at 4.4.2 & Kernel 3.10.33. I'm not sure what the problem is with your ExternalSD (i.e. MicroSD), as I'm able to write to it just fine.

BTW: Are you even in the correct Thread? This is the TWRP Thread, and not the Finnless One, and the k200.img -> recovery.img is the File you need to download, and rename if you want to get the TWRP Recovery to work on the MXIII. That or the TRWP version for the S82 (2G ONLY!)

Thanks, sorry for confusing stuff. I've been trying to install Clockworkmod or TWRP on this same box - MXIII, 4.4.2, build 112k4, kernel 3.10.33 Oman 1/16/15. I first saw somewhere about the Finless custom ROM but was not able to flash it. Clockworkmod doesn't recognize the device and uses it's factory recovery which does not allow you to do a full system backup. TWRP lists supported Amlogic devices only the K200 stick and not MXIII so I figured it would not work.

I just downloaded the image abdul_pt gave above (k200.img), renamed it recovery.img, put it on USB, and tried again. Holding the reset, I turned box on and waited until recovery booted. I picked "apply update from EXT," then selected "update from udisk." But then it asks me to "choose package to install." The recovery.img is not even showing up. What am I doing wrong?

For starters you aren't reading the install procedure. Use an external SD not USB.

It should.... As always download the File first rename it from whatever... to "recovery.img" (w/o the ""'s), and then move that File to the root directory of your MicroSD Card. Then insert said MicroSD Card into the Device, and then enter the Recovery Mode. the Screen should go either red, or Blue for a moment, before entering TWRP recovery. NOTE: YOU'LL NEED A USB MOUSE TO NAVIGATE! TWRP does NOT currently support any IR / Wireless!? Airmice remotes, that I'm aware of. If you're able to test it out this way to both make, and re-write backups like that. then you can safely replace TWRP as the default Recovery.

Hello. Just got new mxiii box with build number KOT49h. This box will not flash anything when doing the microsd card/toothpick. Can I download twrpx.x.x.recovery.img and rename it recovery.img and flash it via USB burning tool? Oh and Google play isn't being friendly either. Thanks

we are on the same boat buddy mxiii 2g x8gb i have done everything .... flashed images using usb burning tool ... im able to get the box to 115k4 but then wifi wont work ... our boxes are garbage and i think fakes ... ive been at it for 4 days .. im still arguing with suppler in china about this and he keeps trying to send me firmwares which are garbage,, and not original 101k4 -115k4.... one i find a way i will share same firmwares come on all 10 boxes buddy hang in

Wow. Thank you. Sorry about your 10 boxes...ouch. Yes it seems like the Vendor in china or whatever put some lame Rom on here and making it difficult to change Roms and boot into recovery. Luckily I bought from amazon and Im returning it and buying another from someone else on amazon. But I'd still love to find a way in case it happens again. I have done like 4 of these boxes and went like a breeze installing custom rom/recovery.

Use the image from here, it's newer. Check the OP for manual instructions to install throw ADB or Terminal

Thanks for the quick response and hello mr. abdul. So im very terrible at adb shell/terminal use. When this or if happens again with new box, would flashing twrp recovery.img like I previously mentioned through USB burning tool work? Have you heard or know anybody that successfully have done that? Many thanks!!!

same here i dont use adb or terminal and terminal apk wont work on the box ... is there another apk i can download to the box to get you your info ... and when i connecgt the box to the computer it only shows me on my pc that i have a external storage

I'm a bit confused, have the rules changed somewhat recently? I was under the impression that, One was to copy the renamed recovery.img to the MicroSD, and not to to the ExternalSD.... (i.e. For all other tense the internal storage)? I've been telling some of these Guys to use the MicroSD, which was the way I was told... BY YOU Once, not so long ago... IIRC, and now the instructions say to use the ExternalSD

I always said ExternalSD, if by mistake i told you that them i'm sorry. Please show me where I did such a mistake so that I can correct it.

Bootloader checks ExternalSD for recovery.img.

Got it to work by using the 115k.img and usb burning tool v2.0.3 from THIS site only. Other versions didn't work for me...In usb burning tool, you must select force erase all.

After that you can finally flash what ever you want via sd card method. EDIT: This method has broken wifi. Internet cord works though. Even tried different roms and still wifi is still trying to search. Hopefully there's a quick patch zip to fix in near future.
