Get ready... Thanks to the work done by Fenice57 I will be working on a 1.4 release that supports ext4 file system which add a performance increase yet again!

So hats off to Fenice for his work there. He did it for the 7 G2 so I am going to add it to all the others I have done.

Tried a few more languages and a factory wipe, none of them changed anything in the menus, but french did change the keyboard, I will try to flash the rom again I think.

Woah! Really hard to keep track, now. I see there's a "Kasty" v.2 for the tablet now, and you're working on 1.4. Great to see multiple choices for this tablet!

Any chance you can deodex the ROM so it can be modded, now that we can write to \system? Way beyond anything I know how to do.

I am having no luck with this language problem, could somebody try change the language on theirs to Thai(would look something like -->ไทย) and see if the menus change, I got one of these for my brother, and I am sure I changed the language on that as a test and it worked fine..

I just tried and Thai and that DID NOT WORK!

Again I made no changes here from the stock ROM to the rooted ROM. It should be 100% the same. However, flash back to stock and see if it works but Thai did not switch on my tablet 10 G2. So your right... that language is not working.

I tested a few more languages. Vietnamese does not work. Chinese traditional works. Thai does not work and most other double byte font Asian languages do not work.

Again I bet the stock ROM is the same!

I would imagine the localisation files are not there in the original rom.

No issues, I will just keep the tablet now instead of giving it to my girlfriend.

Do not know if it is advanced enough to be finless 1.3 since you have to install the android market with arctools, could be a clone of finless 1.1

It's a direct rip off of my 1.3. Arctablet simply removed the Market to force you to use his Arctools which doesn’t even work right! He removed Damo's boot screen, and then just added Fenice ext4 code from his 7G2 ROM. This is adding 5 lines of code to init.rc in boot.img and that’s it.

I can prove 100% it's a direct rip off. In a few places I modded some binary files for a specific reason I won’t go into but those files are in his ROM. Along with my commented code lines in some places.

So here is the deal. I have shared 100% all the code changes I made to make my 1.3 ROM. That is the spirit of open source. Anyone that has asked me how, or a question, I explain to them what they needed to do and even shared my code lines or scripts.. Ask Doc and he will tell you. Doc did his own work to make his ROM! Fenice used my first 1.0 ROM and then kept adding to it HIS OWN WORK!!! So I have no problem there as he is contributing and contributing a A LOT let me tell you!!!

This is what I think sharing, open source, teaching and contributing is all about!

You do not take someone’s put together work and just make a tweak and rename it as yours AND EVEN GO SO FAR as to remove any trace of the original ROM makers credit!!! If you want to make your own ROM and take 100% credit, then do the work, learn, and contribute! .

Anyone can take the shared code and ideas and make their own ROM and even make my exact ROM. But at least you did it yourself! HELL I will even help you learn how to make a ROM just ask!

What arctablet did was simply take the already done hard work of fenice (which he shares and is OK to use but to be polite at least ask) and put it in MY ROM!!!! Took all traces of credit for using my ROM and called it his.

My biggest complaint is he took the work of others, ADDED NO ADDITIONAL CONTRIBUTION OF HIS OWN CREATION, and called it his ROM.
Tell me that is not BS guys? Seriously?

So you won’t see me over there anymore. I posted this complaint on Arctablet and will probably get banned or something. So be it.

I won’t work with someone that just plagiarizes without contribution.
I mean come on... Add to the community don't just be a user!!!!

Personally, I prefer the market tools included in the ROM. Taking the second step to run arctools should be unnecessary, so I don't have any present intention of switching to Kasty. I'd rather wait for 1.4 (even though without a Nandroid, which you know I'm experimenting on, it's a pain to reinstall everything).

I like the way you bundle the ROM together with the flash tools and drivers. Very self-contained.

I'm just gonna try not to get hit in any crossfire, since I know there's always two sides to every story.

Well I have talked to Jim about this. His idea of "open source" is that anything made public out there is free to take and do with what you like. And for the most part I have no problem with that if you’re going to contribute to it. Again I will even help you!

Take a look in the Polaroid forum. Anything Chidave09 asked me I told him. He has already taken apart my ROM for the Polaroid, asked me questions about it and is making his own ROM from it. He is adding his OWN contribution HE created....
Oh and let me point out what he also did:
1) He asked me if I minded he use my ROM
2) Then asks me again before he makes his ROM, if it was OK to do so!

Now I am not looking for that and to be asked all the time but
Chidave09 to me is a "class act right there"!
He had the ethics to even think about it and ask.

Jim on the other hand did none of the above because he feels this is OK and add no content of your own but put your name on it and remove any indications of the original ROM maker. Then fight back by telling people on his site "Finless ROMs are not supported" YET he took my 1.3 ROM, plagiarized it and used it. But wait? If my ROMs are not supported there why the hell are you using my ROM to make yours?

Seriously... Does that make any sense to any of you all? Talk about a one way street! WTF

hey Bob you have every reason to be upset, if anyone knows your work it would be you. I have followed you. From arctablet and am a fan of your work and most of all your attitude towards what you do. Your passion for yourn work shows in the post that you have left in helpi ng others. At times I did not kn ow how you stayed patient with some questions from others including myself. Do not let it get you down, we know where the real talent lies and what goes around comes around. Your work is appreciated by many, including myself. Thanks Paul. Looking to 1.4. And if it is anything like 1.3 I'll be dancng in my seat. I have other tablets aand have another on order, just playing.

Wifi Problem

Finless,

I've been running 1.3 for about a week now. The last few days, my tablet has lost it's wifi connection when it sits for a few hours.
When I open the Wifi Settings, it says "Scanning...." The tablet sees all the nearby networks, even ones I have connected to before, but it won't connect. When I choose a network and click "Connect", nothing happens.

If I turn Wifi off, then back on again - it's fine and it connects automatically to my home network.

I don't remember this happening with the previous version of your ROM.

any thoughts?
