Mk802 III Finless ROM ?
Collapse

Hi Bob,
Any update on how the mk802-III ROM is coming along?
And in the meantime what would be the best ROM for the mk802-III out of the ug802 1.7 and the mk808 1.6?
Slightly baffled by the actual differences between all these devices!
Many thanks for you efforts!

Thanks all,
Finless rom works! But reboot app do nothing:-( and movies, that I was not able to play smoothly on rikomagic rom, doesn´t go smoothly too. Try anybody:
This piece of 2012 movie is full of lags. I don´t know, where the problem is, because other 1080p movies go fine and this movie is on PC or my HD player ok too.Last edited by Wolfsteen; 31 December 2012, 15:14.

Once it is rooted, you can download terminal emulator from the Play store.
Then type at prompts
su (This should give you the # prompt)
reboot bootloader (This will make the unit reboot into bootloader mode)
Then flash away.

I will try it.

But if I click (point 9 in readme first file) to Reboot to Flash Mode, appeared error "Flash Mode failed". Do you have any ideas, what is wrong?

The stock MK802III is sold to be 1.6ghz. Antutu CPU Master also shows 250mhz - 1.6ghz with "interactive" scaling (using the stock firmware). But, in reality mine never goes over 1.2ghz (trickster mod shows which frequencies are actually used). If I set both the min and max to 1.6ghz, it only moves up to 1.2ghz (even in "performance" scaling mode). There seems to be a hardlimit of 1.2ghz. So I suspect the 1.6ghz is only a marketing lie and the unit is actually only built for 1.2ghz
If this is true then the 1.2ghz finless firmware won't really underclock your MK802III.

What I can say is that MK802III works very fine with Finless 1.2 GHz ROM.
I dont think 1.6Ghz is really needed for normal usage.

What would be the best finless rom for a MK802III? I see some people here flashed UG802 finless roms, but the UG802 has a stock frequency of 1.2ghz instead of 1.6ghz for the MK802III. So that would cause it to be underclocked.
There are also overclocked UG802 firmwares:
But they have a clear warning:
Some will burn out your UG802 if you do not have a heatsink on the processor!
I don't know if this also applies to the MK802III as it already has a stock frequency of 1.6ghz. I can imagine that this kernel overclocks more than just the CPU, perhaps the GPU and/or RAM? So could it still cause the MK802III to overheat?
What is the stock GPU and RAM frequency for the MK802III actually?
