In my oppinion, the simplest way is first do the update to the most recent stock firmware (20121129), because it's rooted. All you have to do is put the update.img file in a blank SD ou pendrive and restart MK802.

After that, enter the google play and install a terminal emulator.

Plug the mk802 provided usb cable at a pc usb port and unplug everything else from mk802, except a mouse (no hubs, no external power..) .

Open mk802 terminal emulator and type:

    su [enter]
    reboot bootloader [enter]

You will see a blank screen at TV (for a moment you will think it failed, but it's ok) and now install windows drivers.

Flash tool will recognize it. So, just follow the procedure in finless readme from here.

It will work and should give you 8GB (minus space for ROM etc). Yes the parameter file can be adjusted to give more APP space.

    10) User APP space by default was only 512MB.
I have now given you 2 parameter files to chose from! A 1GB APP space and a 2GB APP space choice!
By default the 1GB is chosen in the flash tool. This leaves 1.67GB Internal SDcard.
You can choose the 2GB parameter file which will leave you with only 670MB Internal SDcard.
    The choice is yours!

    Hi!

I'm another mk802III user from Brazil.

I just received 2 unit of MK802III a few days ago. I'll give one to my younger son at chritsmas and keep the other for myself... rsrsrs

The first thing I did was the stock firmware upgrade, like described on this link ( http://www.rikomagic.co.uk/forum/vie...87ce8362755d0c ).

It was a very, very simple process, since all you have to do is put a update.img file at root directory of a FAT32 empty pendrive (I've tried with a micro-SD card first, but I had no lucky with it).

With 20121129 firmware, the device is rooted. So, makes a little bit easier to flash Finless ROM.

After this update, I installed a terminal emulator from google play and typed:

    su [enter]
    reboot bootloader [enter]

And jumped right into the driver installation steps at Finless ROM flash instructions.

The only problem I have (and it scares me for a little while) was that the second device didnt reboot after flashing finless ROM (everything was ok, no errors messages at all).

So, i did a google search and found the information about open MK802 cover and short two pins with some metal to force a flash mode.

(credit for this information: http://www.armtvtech.com/armtvtechfo....php?f=12&t=13 )

After 3 or 4 tries, i got it.

So, flash it again and worked fine at this time...

The usb hub I'm using is this encore, that also have ethernet port (works a lot better than mk802 wifi):

And for now, the power source is an iPad 5.1v 2.1A charger.

For interaction, RC11 air mouse/keyboard (working very fine)

With BSPlayer free I can play 720p or 1080p MKV, from SMB share, with no hiccups (thru wifi only 720p works good, at 150Mbps connection, some inches away from wireless router).

The only thing I like to see working better on MK802III is the Netflix movies resolution. It's not HD and looks like poor youtube videos.

Anyway, thanks for make available a ROM with lots of improvements.

In fact, the official firmware as well doesn't work with my USB hub. But the hub works fine with old original MK802.
So what's the problem with MK802 III ? is it hardware or software ?

    thx.
    Which ROM have you tried?

You will always be missing some NAND.

NAND is partioned like a hard drive in a way.
    /system
    /data
    /cache
    /boot
    /recovery
    /kernel
    /Internal SDcard

When I say I give you 1 gig of APP space that is the /data partition.
This is where all user data goes like when you install APPs or updates.
Stock, most manufacturers set to 512mb. I always indcrease that becasuse some APP hounds like to install bunch of APPs.

So take 4 gig and subtract 1gig for /data

You also loose a little less that 1 gig for the ROM
/system is 500mb and the rest is about 400mb.

What is left is used for Internal SDCard.

Let's try if Finless ROM 1.5a for mk808 works.

I need to recover my Mk802-III because it's dead now .
