If I see this correctly, my device does not support 5GHz anyway - the manufacturer only lists 811.1b/g/n support, and all of these are 2.4GHz. (5GHz would be e.g. 811.1a/h/ac. Also: does the RK903 module support 5GHz at all?)

Thanks for the advice, I'll give the Finless ROM a try. :-)

Im trying to create a hard mod of my mk808, after reading the post from Bob about the fix, i have just made this first mode

With simple electric copper cable soldered to ground on one side and antena to other side, my wifi signal was really better than before.

Because i have to buy some product on geekbuying, i saw the low cost antena for imito Q1 if im not wrong.

After cutting the plug of the antena i soldered the main copper cable to antena spot of the mk and the shield of the antena to ground. My first result is not better than my previous mod, but i can move this antena and in that way i can reach a really good wifi signal with less noise.

im going to make more test and some pic.

The test isnt ok with imito antena, my old mod was really better then i used this time copper phone cable and wifi signal is ok without any drop

I fixed my mk808 by simply deleting the entire antenna and patch from inside the case and I installed a 1.2" piece of 24g hookup wire to the ant terminal and nothing to the ground. I drilled a little hole in the case above the ant terminal and fished the wire through, so it sticks up vertically from the case. Any where between 1.17 and 1.6 should work fine. I wound up bending the antenna over on the outside of the case away from the heat sink. works great

just looking a bit of guidence

got a mk806 with bad wifi aerial.

As soon as i took it apart and had the aerial hanging out the wifi signal was great.

My question is do i just make a hole in the case and feed the ariel through it and have it on the outside. Or so i desolder either the green circle or the orange square and keep the aerial inside the case?

that pic shows just metal tubing that the aerial goes through, i'm guessing to boost signal?

also maybe not the best place to ask either but the 3.5mm jack when connected to speakers, has a bad earth you can hear interference, the device working away pulses of electricity going through circuit board, how do i sort this out or maybe i can't

            any direction would be appreciated

              Antenna

              Hi foxes,
By mistake, while I was opening the MK808B I teared the grey RF cable (4.jpeg) that was connected to the board (the micro-strip side is cut):
1 (tip) to 3 (sleeve), at the moment there is no short between the tip and the sleeve (on the board side).
This cable was connected to the micro-strip antenna as seen on 3.jpeg (I don't where should I weld it.

There is another antenna connection (one for Data and one for GND) as seen on 1.jpg. When I close the outer cover, Those connectors touch 6&7 on 2.jpg and make short.
              I'm a little confuse:
Why there are two different antennas ?
Why antenna 6&7 is shorted ?
Which Antenna should I fix and how ?
How Should I weld 1&3 to the micro-strip antenna?

              Regards,
              Kokofiko

Another MK808 model, same wifi problem.

                Hello !

Impressive too see so many people exchange about this subject ! oO

I have the same very annoying wifi drop problem, even is i've just received this one 1 week ago (gb).
It seems i have different mk808 model compared to those i've see on photos here.
                My MK808 opened :

There's no same solution for each mk808 model, what would be the simpliest for this one ?

The point i do not explain is that wifi manager detect very high wifi signal, but disconnect nowasays, or keep connected only few moments, with very low data rate...

What do you think about it ?

Not all MK808's are made with the same original parts... the WiFi/BT chip is different on several of them and you didn't show a pic of that side of the device so others will be unlikely to say which fake/clone you may actually have.

Thanks for your answer, i've edited my post to add the other side of the circuit.
It's a MK808 from geekbuying, ordered 1 month ago and recepted two days ago.

Ant and GND are soldered / linked. Shealth of the wire start just after the soldering.

The pic you added shows the RK901 chipset which is the one the original model has... and just to be clear, Geekbuying ( and most others ) carry more than just one MK808 models made by several companies...

To me... if they ( all of the makers ) use a RK3066 and RB901 chipsets... then they are clones and are made like the original one. So you should be able to use any ROM that is made for the original ones. If they use different chipsets... I call them fakes but others here don't always use the same definitions as I do... so always read carefully just to be safe.

You may get better performance by using a different ROM made for the original... but I'd suggest you first get an extension cable for the 2.4Ghz receiver you have plugged into it... Those receivers, the WiFi and BT ( you don't have BT ) all use 2.4Ghz and even though they are on different channels... they still can interfere with each other if they are close to each other. Using an extension will help you avoid that type of problem. If you still have WiFi connection issues after that... try the other ROM's.

Many of the other ROM's also have other advantages over the stock ROM... you may want to try them anyway but first see if you can help the WiFi issue so if you do change ROM's you know that part works properly to start with.

Extension cable ? You suggest to make the wire longer ? I have not done any modif on the chip presently. Any wire with the same diameter and shealt around ? with another soldering point ?

So you think i should try to change for a custom rom first ? i tried to flash finless 2.1...
but i have a usb mass storage mode detection problem : http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...ht=#post128540

RK901... it should have been rk3066 according to the order and box received, is there a difference ?

Thanks a lot for your help

What I was suggesting is that you first get a USB extension cable for the 2.4Ghz receiver you have plugged into the MK808...

This way... if that is the cause of the problems you are having with the WiFi... you fix the problem simply by using the extension cable. Once that is done... you can try a ROM if you want later

In fact, this is not a wifi key (i have one, logitech too, but i doubt there is driver for it on such an os, does it? The one you see on the photo is for wireless comm with tronsmart air mouse and keyboard TSM 01. But i'll try to use an extension cable, you're right, i have to check this first.

I simply showed you a pic of what I was talking about as an example of one.. the tronsmart that you have is also a 2.4Ghz receiver and because of that... it could interfere with your WiFi

                                Thanks for the tip.
I tried this, but the problem keep the same.
As i choose my wifi id, mdp ok, it print, save, but do not connect. One or 2 times, it worked a few minutes... :S
