Mine look the same ...and I have poor (or not) WiFi connection at 6-7 meters from router, into another room ...
    Take a look here : http://www.armtvtech.com/armtvtechfo...=515&start=100

Yes, later models they made this change to how one of the antenna is connected. Might be good just to remove that one antenna from the case side to eliminate it. You can alsways stick it back on the case if you need.

I made a WiFi antenna mod
using this stuff: 2 antennas from dead router, soldering tool, sharp knife, heat shrink tube, pliers.
        --------------
        1. !Carefully! Disassemble the old antennas (taken from dead router).
Cut out the antenna's SMA connector to get as longer wire as you can. To do this just crack all the plastic antenna's cover with a pliers. Be careful to not damage the wire inside!
If you succeed, you should have something like this:

        2. Prepare disassembled wires for soldering, tin carefully. After that use heat shrink tubes of appropriate size to isolate antennas. Be sure you still can ironing the contacts after that.
        3. Desolder the old antennas, clean up the contacts on the board.
        4. Solder antennas carefully to the board, (central wire to ANT, and ground to GND). Check the contacts to make sure it's not shorted.

Note: If you are not using a radiator mod (like i did), there's pretty enough room to place two modded antennas Just make sure you have a proper isolation.
As a results: stable 65Mbs connection, 32-36Mbps speedtest.

Very nice mod. In this way you can keep the antenna inside the box I believe.

Yes, it's possible if you using a stock radiator. Or you can just make sure to have some room (4mm from the side) when making a radiator mod.

Userman, that is impressive looking and the results sound ideal. I wish I had the talent to put something like that together. I can't believe the drop off in throughput between my netbook and the MK808 sitting basically in the same location.

I get an average of 25 down and 15 up on average on speedtest on the netbook. I'm only getting around 1 to 1.5 down and 10 up on the MK808. I also don't understand why I'm getting a faster upload than download. I do think the antenna is a big part of the difficulty of streaming movies.

                  wifi issues

                  Hi rothenbj,

Not sure you are looking for this ..anyways..These could be a work around for wifi issues. Worked for me anyway. I am having rock steady connections on my MK808 now from almost nothing!! As far as wifi goes the ICS was better for me...on the whole the gadget is a lot faster. Hope this helps.

                    little help?!

Please forgive my ignorance ... I'm very new to this sorta thing!

As I understand it, the issue is ... 1. a short to GND from the antennae? ... 2. the quality, or lack thereof, of the stock antenae?

I think I understand the original "quick fix" of simply removing any connection to GND? ... and worst case, I'll try that.

But, if I'm gonna get in there, I'd like it to be only once!

First off, I'm sure what's meant by "carefully disassemble the old antennae" ... what exactly am I being careful, not to do? I need to crush the plastic housing with a pliers? ... that don't sound very careful?

Secondly, I have NO clue what an "SMA connector" is?!

                    What does "tin carefully" mean?

                    What does "ironing contacts" mean?

How exactly do I check the contacts to make sure it's not shorted? ... I thought I saw someone say, the contacts are otherwise wired together, anyhow?!

By "radiator", I take it you're referring to what appears to be a heat-sink?

                    Thanks!

just to double check, because i havent soldered anything in 10 years, and even then im sure i broke it!!

I just need to remove the ground from both antenna.... and then do i coat the whole of the ground wire and antenna in nail polish. is that it?

just because i dont have a soldering iron, any reason why i cant just use wire cutters on the ground?

                      thanks a lot!!!

If you can cut the ground side then sure that works. But on mine that is the shielding for the wire and was very securely soldered to the board and very close. Might be a little difficult to get in there with cutters.

But if you can do it should work the same.

Yes then cover the ground wire on the cable to make sure it doesnt short on anything when you put it back together.

I had trouble to cut it because the cables were very close and GND was almost under ANT. So I used a nail cutter.

Don't forget to cover (isolate) the GND cables not to touch any other circuit.

So this was not my idea as I read it here in posts from other users. So props to them for coming up with this "quick fix".

My MK808 was fine when it was newut recently it started having SERIOUS wifi issues!
It would either not see my router, when it did it had a hard time getting an IP address or many times would fail to authenticate WPA2. Then when I would get lucky enough to connect to the router. The data rate would be so bad Google Play would not even load.

So I decided to try this quick mod as I did not have the parts or time to make new antennas. The what I call "quick fix" is to dissconnect the shield ground of the antenna wires to the circuit board. HOLY COW! It worked like a charm! My wifi now works better than ANY of the other TV sticks I have!

What is happening is the manufacturer is shorting the sheild ground to the internal antenna wire when they solder the wire to the board. The heat from soldering the ground shield is melting the internal insulation and shorting the wire.

So I decided to make a little video to explain what this is all about.

                            Enjoy!

I fixed mine with no need of un-soldering anything, I've just detached both copper sheets (WiFi ants) and put it trough the box, just need a tiny hacksaw to make a pair of umm "splines"? I better show you with a couple of photos, by the night I'll post it.

                            Greets.

Wire cutters are too large and too crude for the job, like trying to do brain surgery with a hatchet.

I wont disagree but THAT is funny!

Reminds me of an old Star Trek episode where Spock says he is working with hatchets and knives...
