I am unable to get this to work.

Although the flash tool says Found RK Android Loader Rock Usb, after selecting only kernel and recovery and then flashing, the status window shows:

    Info:Start to run

    Info:Start to run
    Info:Test device failed
    Info:Run failed

Re: Forum for Archos 80 Cobalt?

I'm no expert but here's how I did it:

      1. Download the recovery package from the XDA thread I linked to earlier in the thread (handy in case anything goes wrong). Unzip it. Open the backup folder and rename the recovery and kernel files to recoveryoriginal and kerneloriginal or similar.

      2. Download the new kernel and recovery images. Place them in the backup folder and rename them to kernel and recovery (without the .img)

      3. Boot into rk flash mode (I used adb reboot bootloader, if you don't have adb installed the button combo is earlier in the thread).

      4. Install the drivers for the rk flash mode (included in the recovery package).

      5. Run the flash tool, select only kernel and recovery, and flash them.

      6. Reboot into recovery (adb reboot recovery, or install Rom manager and select reboot into recovery, or the button press is earlier in the thread.

That's how I did it. I'm no expert on the rk flash tool as this is the first rockchip tab I've owned, there's probably some unnecessary steps in there but it worked for me.

That covers it or use the version I uploaded. You do need to have a parameter file as well.

In terms of the flash failing then use a isn 2 at the rear of the pc. Also try different cables.

          Thanks guys.

I've tried all approaches but still have the same issue.

Clutching at straws, but are you running the flash tool as administrator?

Usual issues with flashing RK3066 as follows
              • USB port
                • use USB 2 bot USB 3 port
                • don't use a hub
                • use one of the rear ports
              • USB Cable
                • use a quality cable a lot of the cheap cables will not work
              • Drivers
                • latest version of windows can cause issues with signed/un-signed drivers (flashing from linux using rkflashtool is more straight forwards

Brian et al, we should ove this post to here since this seems to be in the wrong place?

Sounds a plan I was going to close this thread once I have a full rom kit.

Well I made some progress by using another machine.

How having flashed successfully, what is the procedure for getting into CWM?

I've tried the usual Volume- and Power on as mentioned earlier, as well a with Volume+ but that hasn't worked.

Edit: Tried again with holding Volume- for longer and now in to CWM.

                    Awesome :-)

Excellent, I often use a terminal console for this, available on play. Then start terminal and enter

                      su
                      reboot recovery

                      For flashing use

                      reboot bootloader

With my additional knowledge, I can put that to use in future.

Using Windows 8 64bit seems a no go for some things at the moment.

Still have a SD card problem

Hi again i've tried formatting and scan disk on four different sd cards all are showing up fine in both of my machines but are not adding to the internal storage again on both machines, so ive got a game which needs 1.9GB of space the SD has 7.2G but it says there's no room again on both machines using different cards.

Also going into settings/apps storage at the bottom where it shows how much of the storage you have used etc it only has the internal storage where i would have thought it would of added the SD card storage onto that too.

Could anybody see if this is the same on theirs please

The SD card doesn't add to the internal storage in terms of increasing it as a whole, which is currently limited to 1Gb for apps, so in your scenario I'm not sure it will be possible.

I stand to be corrected though.

I think you'll find you can install onto the 8GB internal too but i may be wrong, but if you was to install an SD card go to settings apps and tell it to move to SD card you will find its moved it to the internal 8GB and not the SD card same as i just recorded over a GB of tunein radio but its recorded again to the internal 8GB not the SD so i can no longer install any more apps but the SD card is empty.

                                Hello
I don't run Windows and only have USB 3 ports. I can access flash mode fine on Linux and have taken backups with rkflashtool. How would I flash CWM without the windows tool? Kernel -> usual offset and recovery to usual offset? Doesn't seem right as file sizes dont really match.
