I ended up reflashing but i used the paperclip method instead of the "upgrade" app thats on there. The paperclip method took care of everything, i also found a sd card adapter that seems to work better with my sd card slot, it seems to read better, the one i was using was a samsung, i think this one is a scandisk, but i cant remember

Awesome! Glad to hear it worked out. Let me know if this firmware is working better for you or not. So far it seems to be working much better for me.

On a side note, definitely glad to hear you got a new one to play with Bob and that you are back on the case to create a better custom rom! Thanks for all you do. Wish I knew more so I could help. Where can I get a crash course on Rom creation?

      Thanks,

        Tronsmart Prometheus bricked

Ok i'm out of ideas. I have tried anything mentioned here. Nothing helped. When i switch the device ON the two lights are on and they don't blink at any circumstances. No matter what i hold and what i pulug in first. Doesn't seems to make any difference what kind of SD card i am putting in. The screen of the TV is always black nothing changes no matter what. The strangest thing is that it happedn out of nothing. I have left the device on for some time and notice that it was quite warm. When i switched the TV ti the HDMI input i have noticed that some animation was executing non stop. After waiting for 10-15 minutes or so i have truned it off. Then when i turn it on again it was compleatly dead. Is it possible that the CPU has overheated and evetualy failed. Or there is any hope please if you have any ideas (may be to reset the NAND using the on board jumper - if someone knows where it is).
        Thanks in advance.

              Hi guys

I finally explain clearly to tronsmart for this problem, and i also brick a device and i send this brick device to them, and their engineer will check the problem, and offer a unbrick method.

              stay tuned.

I will not put my name on a ROM until I know that a flash failure people can unbrick from.
                  That's the facts jack!

Every AMlogic MX or M6 tablet I have can be "hard unbricked" if you have the correct manufacturer files on a SDcard.

I was able to unbrick from a "soft brick" and figured it out myself and explained it all to people and SOME got fixed. Yet Tronsmart wont publish even how to do that let alone supply people the files to unbrick!

It is a shame I myself had to spend hours using experience to soft unbrick and tell people how and Tronsmart has not supplied that. Now I am hard bricked and until I get the needed SDcard files to unbrick, I will not make a ROM.

Geekbuying has been cool on all this and even sent me another unit. But I wont risk another one or anyone else's unit until we get the needed unbrick method from Tronsmart.

                  That's my final say...

I have now bricked my Prometheus clone! I cannot get the blue light to blink 3 times or blink at all anymore! What's funny is I had gotten it to blink again many times and was always able to revive it and now no such luck! I did manage to hook it up to SPI using usb to ttl cable and Putty. Here is what I get:

                    EEEE I3000000032940xf100100303;77510EEEE I400000004294_M6_BL1_3003>2137333þ
wait pll-0x03 target is 0204 now it is 0x00000203

DDR clock is 516MHz with 1T mode

                    DX0DLLCR:40000000
                    DX0DQTR:ffffffff

Boot from internal device 1st SPI RESERVED

                    System Started

That's it. It just stops there. So it looks like it is starting fine and then just stops at the system started message. Doesn't matter whether I have reset button pressed or boot sdcard in or out.

Just for reference and to help out Here is a pic of the SPI pinout.

I cut an 8 pin IC socket in half to make a quick way to connect to usb to ttl cable.

And here is a full board pic of my clone.

Hope this helps us figure out the brick issue!

                    Thanks,

I had hooked a SPI interface to mine too... Pretty much the same thing although yours gets farther than mine does.

Again, when a new board comes off the factory floor it can be programmed! And Tronsmart knows how to tell us to do that!

Once they do, we can unbrick.

Thanks for sharing the info! I see you took it to the next level to try and unbrick.

Alas this board is not a generic AML setup. So there is something else needed to set this up.

TRONSMART! Give it to us! We will help you with returned product!

                      My last plea for help

Short these two pins while holding the reset buton and apply power. Blue light will blink 3 times again and wait for a bit and next thing you know it is updating again!!!!!!!!!!!!! Note: with a recovery boot sdcard in the slot.

OK HOLY COW!~ If that is true... YOU CRACKED IT...

Trust me, tomorrow when I have time I will see if I can recover my box.

What exactly did you have on SDcard? The stock image or the one I describe to make?

This is the firmware I put on the card:

I used SDCardmaker.exe from Amlogic and pointed it to the u-boot.bin in that frimware to make the sd card bootable. Here is the link to SDCardmaker.exe. Note: it must be run as administrator to work.

Actually just found this which might be easier to make bootable recovery card:

Let me know how it works out for you.

                              Thanks,
