Thanks for confirming I am not crazy here. If I understand things, Finless is basically the stock ROM. I have done more searching and found that others have reported this elsewhere on the stock ROM but there is no clear "fix". If I turn ehternet off and back on when this happens, DHCP works fine.

My understanding is, Bob (and the other devs) take stock ROMs and finesse them with love. Same thing only different.

I saw your question on the MiniX forum. Are you in the habit of completely powering off the box?

My description of the power states:

      1) Off is off. No blue LED. The only way to get there is to either hold the power button on the box until the LED goes off, or disconnect the external power to the box.

      2) Standby or sleep. Get there by either momentarily pressing the power button on either the box or the remote. The display is off but the blue LED is still on.

I almost never actually turn it off and have never put it to sleep intentionally. I changed the developer option to keep it on while charging - which I think it always is seen as doing. Once turned on, ethernet seems fine except on those occasions when it does not get DHCP upon reboot. Recently, I have been testing a few things so I have been doing more reboots than usual. I think that is why I am noticing this. It does not happen on every reboot. Only maybe 1 of 3. Thanks

is it possible to use the analog audio out with this rom? I get nothing when I plug headphones into the 2.5mm jack and when I go into the andoid audio settings I only see the option for hdmi.

                Problems With Online Nandroid

Hello and thanks again for this fine ROM. I am using a version that was built for install via CWM. For the most part, it works great.

But I have had troubles now on multiple occasions trying to CMW restore backups create with the very fine Online Nandroid app which I have used with great success on my Samsung Note I phone. The backups it takes seem to complete without problems. But restore attempts always fail almost immediately after checking the MD5 checksum. Looking at the CWM log after such a failure I see an error reported - something to do with /emmc.

Now I am no expert but I think that Online Nandroid MAY be using the model number in its backup script. And I believe that this ROM has been modified to report the model as a GT-I9100. So perhaps that is what is at the root (no pun) of this problem.

                (a) Can someone confirm this?

                (b) Can someone tell me why this ROM reports the device as it does?

                (c) Can someone tell me a good work-around that permits me to still use Online Nandroid? If I cannot use Online Nandroid, will the normal CWM backup from recovery work?

                Thanks

Changing the model number in the build.prop is called ID Spoofing and is the trick used to fool Play Store into thinking the X5 is a "compatible" device.

I see the MD5 problem fairly often. I've decide my X5 just sucks at math. Maybe yours does, too. Most often, if I clear both caches, and reboot recovery, it will restore. But sometimes it can take two or three tries.

Thanks for the response and encouragement. Are you using the Online Nandroid app or are you doing backups from within CWM recovery itself? My problems seem to be with the backups made by Online Nandroid while backups made from within CWM recovery seem to restore ok. In checking the files produced by the Online Nandroid app and those produced by the CWM backup, I can see they are rather different.

Here is what Online Nandroid creates:

                      I back up in CWM.

Those are interesting results. I wonder why the differences. Particularly that the online app doesn't back up the kernel.

Well, I can live with your approach on my Neo but I really like being able to schedule nightly backups on my Samsung Note. Since the Neo changes far less frequently, I could surive a manual approach.

But I am working with the author of the online backup app to resolve the issue. I will post back here if it is resolved.

                        Cheers!

PS - I have just tested a beta version that fixes whatever the problem was here. Have gotten excellent response and support from the author of the app/script. Highly recommended. This provides the means to schedule backups easily so they tend to actually get done. What a concept!

Rockchip USB Drivers For Windows and Finless 1.2b?

Hello. I am trying to install the Rockchip USB drivers for my Neo X5 into my Windows system that connects via USB. I find that when I boot the Neo into recovery, Windows see the device as a Rockchip and seems to recognize it to some extent. However, when I just connect the Neo when it is running normally (not in recovery), Windows cannot seem to recognize the device at all. It sees it as a 9100 (since Finless spoofs that) and I wonder if this is the problem. Does anyone have any experience with this?

                          Thanks

PS3 sixaxis sixaxis app and touch emulation

                            Hi all,
i've seen lots of good reviews about this rom, so I would like to try it.
I just was wondering if using this rom i will be able to use the "native" touch emulation from sixaxis controller app or how it is possible to use the controller with touch emulation if it is not possible using sixaxis controller app......

                            Thanks for any help/infos

Where is the Power Off App?

In the bar along the bottom of my Neo X5 running Finless, there is an off button that permits the choice between sleep, power off, or reboot. The functionality here is obviously different from the various reboot apps that are available (and I believe one is added in Finless) in that these apps seem to be much faster. When I reboot using the off button on the bottom bar, it actually takes a fair amount of time for Android to finish-up and restart. I am looking to find out where this functionality is actually resident (in what app) so I can take a look at what it is doing that is so different from the fast reboot apps that are out there. Can anyone point me to the app that does this work? I can see an app called Reboot (version 0.9.1) in the settings list of all installed apps. But this must be in the system since I can only disable and not uninstall it. This, I know, is not what I am looking for. Thanks

                              >>>> Found it myself. It is in the SystemUi.apk. Thanks

                                Hi all,
I don't remember if it is possible to control the minix with this rom from an android smartphone.
Some month ago it's seems to me I was able to to that, but i changed my smartphone and i lost the app
                                Or maybe I'm wrong ?
