Yeah, today recieved my Teclast T98! Without extra costs which is great.
Enthusiastically began with steps to install custom ROM. As descriped above (HP69)
First wanted to flash TWRP only to make a backup.
SPFT, download only, scatter file load --> HP69, uncheck all besides recovery, point to recovery.twrp.img, hit download, power off tablet, connect tablet with USB.
Sounds easy as that, but then, nothing happened The program should now flash the recovery, wouldn't it?

I've tried several times, no luck.
Thought it would be a driver thing.
Installed PDA Net, installed adbdriver_v1.0, which says drivers are installed successfully, but no results..

    Maybe i'm forgetting something?
1st time user SPFT, so forgive me if it is something ridiculous.
Checked several youtube 'SPFT howto's', but can't figure it out.
Please someone, anyone, have any tips?

Believe i've installed the driver's correctly...
Although when i open MTK Droid tools, it says: the device isn't revealed
When i connect the turned off tab (it has internal battery), to flash with SP flash tool, it will charge because the usb cable is connected, that is how it should be.

            try to install this https://mega.co.nz/#!YMwlSBzB!Ongj00...v5usl3_SlhvbUU
check in your device manager what happen when you connect your tablet powered off
for some second you can see a new hardware MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM Port (COMn)
remember first click on button download then connect your tablet powered off
            ciao

Just at the last step, restoring the nvram backup. I've made the backup in \sdcard\TWRP\Backups\'Backup Nvram - 25-7-2015' (also copied it to my pc)
But in TWRP --> Restore --> select storage - can only select internal storage (6Gb
Is this step important to do? Can i skip the restore step?

If you have enlarge partition so firmware update mode in spflash is important...you need to restore nvram or you havent imei on your tablet...put in on usb flash drive from your pc and restore it from otg usb

In firmware update mode you have formatted fully your tablet so NOBACKUP on it...

Before the firmware update step i've made the backup using twrp.
Thanks for the usb otg tip, thought also about it. But when i select it as the storage, it doesn't show any files to be restored :S
Now i've just rebooted it into system. Looks like it's working well. Don't fully understand what is the extra advantage of restoring the nvram backup..i am not using it with a sim card..

Its better to restore it before... that when you are on holiday and need a sim...
for usb i notice slow time to mount it 10 seconds and plugit plugit until its recognized

Ok, will try to restore it. Reboot in recovery and try it again.
Thanks again for your help. Seems like everything else worked and that i'm now running your ROM.

Installed apps / widgets / launcher and settings..so far really enjoying the T98.
In performance commparison with my mi3 it feels on par / a bit slower on occasions..which is still quite fast.

Can't exchange my sim (micro sim in tab, normal in phone), so i haven't restored the backup.
Imei nr is same as it was before flashing.

Have one issue so far. Which seems to be caused by google launcher.
Really like the launcher, but with it, once in a while, i get a 'blurry screen' (random occasions, short interval)
There are horizontal lines all across the screen. Can't make out a single letter.
No reaction from touch. Have to hard- power off.
Changed it back to default, and so far haven't encountered it with the tui launcher.

Is this a known bug? Can't you use a different launcher then tui?

Mmh strange..maybe it is limited to google launcher..
Still no problems with the tui launcher, but i rather use google.
                                I'll keep on testing..
