Tronsmart T428 Stock ROM - disccusions on the best ROM

The hdmi output resolution is the same of cube tablet 1920x1200 and this screenshot is taken from t428 with 4.2.2 rom of cube.

1920x1200 works on your TV? I have not tried the Cube ROM yet. I am trying to get the MK908 running with that generic 4.1.1 Rockchip ROM. The stock MK908 ROM is terrible! I got wifi working but having trouble getting BT to work. Other kernels don't work on the MK908 either (no HDMI output) so it's a matter of getting the BT chip drivers working on the 908 kernel which is proving difficult.

I will try the Cube ROM on the T428 tomorrow for sure. I want to see if my TV will handle 1920x1200.

So your using the Cube kernel as well as the full ROM on the T428?

This is similar to what I am doing for the MK908 since their stock ROM is so bad. The fast 4.1.1 firmware using modules from stock 4.2.2 ROM. I got everything integrated and working except Bluetooth.

So I think I might be able to do that with the Cube ROM. So yes for sure I will probably try that combo for the T428.

I can't help for mk908, i don't have one and the wifi module is different from the bcm 4330 in the t428

Another information for the users, the bcm 4330 work also on 5ghz but not support the new ac protocol.

The 5ghz are also usefull for wifi direct and screen mirroring with new devices like galaxy s 3 that use 5ghz for this services. Point to point connections without router. (But also others new devices)

Another usefull information about the bad rom 4.2.2 of the t428 is that the app ehomemediacenter apk in system/app send strange broadcast events that degrade the wifi performance and disturb the correct functionality of many router. When you have wifi problems, you must restart your router. I have this problem also with rk3066 devices with this app inside.

For this reason i hope in a good rom without bloatware inside. With external apps the users can uninstall, but with bloatware integrated in the rom the standard users can't solve.

What is odd is the T428 4.2.2 stock ROM boots on the MK908 and both wifi and BT work.... It's odd that the 4.1.1 firmware wont work on the MK908 until I started porting drivers from the stock MK908 ROM.

The only thing that wont work on the MK908 with the T428 4.2.2 ROM is HDMI settings wont work at all. They wont show up in the settings menu on the MK908 and it's .36+ kernel. However, with the 4.1.1 ROM on the MK908, the HDMI settings all work.

So again a little more proof that the 4.2.2 ROM with a 4.1.1 kernel is not the same, so 4.2.2 is showing as more real! So your right HDMI is different on 4.2.2 or this "so called" fake 4.2.2 should work on the 4.1.1 kernel and it doesn't. Both kernels are .36+ but for sure is a different SDK level.

Damn, my Cube ROM download was corrupt. Now I have to download it again..... I hate slow China download sites

Yes ehome media center is a bad behaving APP! But I usually don't remove it as people want it for RKRmote control app, etc.

By the way Rockchip made that APP! Did you know that?

OK I flashed the Cube ROM. It not very fast and Antutu hangs on CPU test. Yes it gets hot too.

However even though native kernel is 1920x1200, the HDMI output is scaled down to proper 1920x1280. So even though Antutu say 1920x1128 (for status bars) it is outputting 1080.

Also many many drivers are missing from Cube ROM and kernel. My k400 and wifi mouse will not work. Only USB mouse worked. So might be a lot of work to port cube ROM. I am going to use T428 kernel with Cube ROM and see what happens

Hey..... Over on Vondroid I found the old T428 4.1.1 stock ROM that Geekbuying had up at one time!

I am testing it now. The ROM download is missing the parameter file and loader but no biggie.

I'm not a fan of Rockchip, and generally i don't like rom made by Rockchip, specially because it is not share source code of the kernel and because it adds to rom many bloatware that ruined the standard Android experience.

For this reason i want a BASIC Android rom that work well in all parts, and for this reason I like the rom 4.1.1, because it is the first real rom without strange additions.

I know that you try to do the missions impossible and for that I thank you. Is not simple work without source code.

My dream would be a cyanogenmod for rk3188 devices made by Bob of Freaktab.

Well After this clarification, the only test that produce a semi bootable rom from my experiments is:

Kernel of 4.1.1 rom
system.img of cube 4.2.2 with modules of 4.1.1 rom
all other parts of 4.2.2 cube rom


I hope that by working on this experiment, we can have in the near future a good rom 4.2.2 as a base model for future work. But especially a rom without harmful and intrusive software.

p.s.
A suggestion, if you want try the antutu with cube rom, try with the external power supply. I think the stock cube kernel is at 1.8 Ghz and require more power, but i'm not sure.
But I suggest you also use a cooling fan to be safer.

Another very strange thing, when I connect the T428 with the bad 4.2.2 firmware on my pc, I see a device with the name MK808.

Why this ?

The stock ROM has USB on all the time as a MTP device. You cannot turn off USB in settings either which is a bug. So windows will see this as a MTP device and ask you what to do.

My ROM I just released changes this to a Mass Storage device so it looks like a removable driver to windows instead of a MTP device.
