If bootcamp can support USB device passthrough to it, then yes in theory it might work.

        Tronsmart T428 Stock ROM

I think I'm going to give it a try. I'll let you know how it works out. What software on the PC side do I need to use to flash the ROM?

        Thanks

Everything you need is in my ROM download. Make sure to READ the README! I spend a lot of time writing instructions that most ROMs do not have.

Just tested the latest cube rom again but using linux to add things instead of windows and exact same results - Laggy UI. What are you doing thats different strauzo that makes ui smooth for you? I extracted the update img and pulled the system img then in linux replaced the whole modules folder, build prop and hwcomposer.rk30board.so then unmounted the img and transfered back to windows where I put the update img back together with the kernel from the latest stock 4.2.2 firmware from 5/21 and everything boots up fine, just laggy.

I have the same issue... Nothing against Strauzo but he is so into the "get rid of the Roockchip China stuff" that I think he cannot see how a user would use this as a TV stick. He wants to use this the way he wants and sorry to say, this is no what people buy these for. So far nothing of all this works helps the problem! Smooth video playback!

Not to drag dirt, but he insisted I make a ROM based on a 4.1.1 "generic" ROM with nothing in it. I did that. As you see users are not all "this is great"!!!! In fact most people think it is slow and doesn't work well. But hey... I did it because of insistence by him.

Now he is all into how great this Cube ROM performs. I said from the beginning it does not fix the frame skipping! You cant use a ROM for a few minutes and make a decision. MUCH MUCH testing goes into it!

Honestly, this Cube morph ROM adds nothing I can see other than to get rid of his complaint of "China stuff" (Which is RK Remote). I have said from the beginning this is not the issue.

Users buying this stuff just want video, etc to work! They are not looking nor care about "China stuff inside" as long as it does what they bought it for! If it does that, most people don't give a damn what else is in it as long as it does not violate security. By the way let me add.... MANY MANY regular users WANT the RK Remote to play games and other reasons. It is not all as bad as being said! It's been in RK3066 ROMs for a while that MANY are happy with how those ROMs performs! Imagine that! The "bad stuff" and the majority of 3066 users are happy!

Chasing Ghosts..... This is what I call this. I am sorry but I am not chasing one mans desires... People want some of the things he wants to remove!!!! Sorry.... I am not subscribing to one persons desires as nothing has proved to me otherwise...

No offense Strauzo, but I have been unable to see any benefit to your "clean ROM" and that it freaking matters!

Sorry.... I call it the way I see it... that is, this Cube ROM does nothing making it a better TV stick... As a tablet.. sure... but this is not a tablet! So I have to give up on chasing ghosts and stuff that would make me do much more work than needed.... If you want to insist on this... Your going to have to produce your own ROMs. Seems you are very capable in doing so I think. Me.... I am going to stick with what works for the MASS majority, which includes me using this as a TV player not a tablet.....

              My .000000003 cents...

Why in the generic 4.1.1 rom and in the 4.2.2 rom from cube we have the better antutu score and other score ?

                near 18000

I can post a video to show you how well work the 4.2.2 from cube.

Why in all 4.2.2 rom based on Rockchip rom we don't have all the stuff of Android 4.2.2 (status bar on top, multi users)

I think finless rom based on china rom, are not 4.2.2 But only hybrid situation.

BoB i don't have Nothing against you, but your work is based on China Roms that are not true Android.

are only China Android, they will always have a lot of problems, becouse the source code is not standard.

The T428 is my last android hdmi stick. from now on, I will buy a good tablet with hdmi when I want to have all the power of Android on TV. In this mode i can use also the tablet in other situations.

Instead if I want to have fun with the development, i can buy an Alwinner A31. On this devices all source codes are public , and i can run all os and other stuff.

Certainly i will never buy other things from Rockchip.

                p.s.

Bob your beliefs are not sacred.

Until a few days ago, you and your closest collaborators, have written in this thread that rkremote was in the kernel.

In all your rom you write: "i added rkremote"

but if you did not know where it was, how did you add it ?

Rkremore is also the "wifi problem" of all your rk3066 roms (specially the ehomemediacenter part that make crazy routers and the services.jar modified which makes the system unstable)

Android hdmi stick are not tablet ?

The original Android have only 3 type of Ui Tablet, Phone and Phablet

                what is your Android ?

                For me Android is this:

                  My next tests will be:

                  1) porting of the Pipo M9 rom (the videos are very good on this tablet)

                  2) remove completly china things from Bob roms to compare (from the services.jar and other parts)

                  3) test other new cube rom (i think will be the best rom in little time)

Can i open a specific thread for all the experimental rom ?

For all the people like me that want an android closest to an aosp ?

In this way we can collaborate well and we can start with a new spirit, without all these pages of complaints

I am disappointed because I had thought about having a good device buying an rk3188

Yes sure... open a new thread. Makes better sense than posting here so people can find it easier.

I think I can understand the reason strauzo is so compassionate about the "China" ROMs vs others. I think he is wanting a stock experience equal to the "Nexus" standards of Google. Google has very strict rules and guidelines you have to follow to have a 100% stock and 100% smooth working ROM on your device. They want it performing as fast, strong, and as stable as possible before they will brand it a "Nexus" device.

Its like comparing a $15k car to a $350k car. They both do the same basic thing, but are held to different standards. I understand the want for a 100% pure stock Android experience. It is nice, and I know there are people who want that. A 100% stock ROM is appealing because YOU get to decide what YOU want to have on YOUR device and not be stuck with what someone else thinks your want or need and not have who knows what running in the background bogging the system down, or logging everything you do (just like the discovered Carrier ICQ bits on phones (last year, I think it was?)). Its the whole reason I root my phones. So I can remove all the bloat crap from it and save some battery life, increase performance, and have it my way.

I do understand though on the flip side that a full stock Android ROM will not work that well for a stick. They don't have a touchscreen, battery, or the need for (almost) any of the phone bits. So some deviation is needed. I myself couldn't use or wouldn't want to use these sticks without some of these features... mainly because I cant build a ROM myself. The best I can do is text edits in ES File Explorer, copy and paste mods, some Terminal Emulator scripts, and apps like Pimp My ROM to get what I think I want. I need you guys for everything else!

My two cents, from a total minipc newbie (I'm still looking to buy one) but Android enthusiast since 2009.

Honestly, I think both Strauzo and Bob are right.
You see, I love Stock Android. I've decided to buy only Nexus devices from now on and I've never been happier about Android. Since ICS and JB, it looks good and its snappy. When it comes to Rom for phones and tablets, I always look for a stock look and especially for roms with very little customization, on a visual and tweak levels. You see, I've done my times on xda and got tired of those so-called developers that just add an ugly theme, a bravia engine that does nothing at all and a 0 to the build.prop. If Google and manufacturers have teams of paid devs working on those matters, it's for a reason ! I find it quite pretentious to think for a 17-years old kid that he can do better just by changing one variable.

That said, there are very skilled devs out who that DO bring great optimizations to the table. And when it's the case, well I'm okay with a no-to-stock experience just because it does work better. Android can be themed and modified afterwards anyway, even if ugly icons are used and if some bloatware is still there; you have custom launchers and Titianium Back up for that !

So I really think you both guys are right actually but Bob is right on one thing : the experience had to be good. And by experience I mean the snappiness, stability, etc; it has to be fully working or almost fully-working. That's the priority. When that is achieved, well you can start to wonder how can you make it more a Stock Android experience, both in terms of usability and looks but also on the code level.

You guys shouldn't be arguing but working hand in hand actually !

                          Now kiss.

Re: Tronsmart T428 Stock ROM - disccusions on the best ROM

Is there just one stock rom? What's stock for a tablet is that the same as stock for a phone. Has anyone (google?) even defined what stock means for a TV stick?

We are treading uncharted territory here. There is no right or wrong, there is only what works best for the device in question.

There will always be difference of opinion and when I finally decide to get a stick I'll choose the one that fits my needs best.
