Google account synching does work, but only when manualy triggered/forced, either through gmail app or the system settings. I receive email notifications on other devices with the same google account set up, but not on my HPH. I might reinstall gmail app or clear data, or even re-add my google account, but first I wanted to check out if anyone's experiencing the same issue.

One thing I found weird a couple of days before, was google account setup which asked for my email address and password one more time immediately after I've already entered my data. I thought I gave it wrong password, so I entered it again, but it was still refusing it. But later I found my google account is up and running, so I assumed everything's ok. Maybe it has something to do with that.
    I receive notifications.
Gmail app updates so many times, so maybe uninstall it or with root uninstaller and manually reinstall the latest version.
Can also try to delete Google account from Andoid - Settings and add new account.

    Please test this.
If you have working sound after that, then I will also include the fix when I get it.

    Thank you!
Load HPHv1.6 (as is NO change) with Androidtools 2.3. Allow to boot and you will experience no keyboard or mouse, now power down. Go to an Ubuntu and load into the RockChip Flash tool and add your Firefly Kernel.img and Resource.img, then do a reboot. If it doesn't start then shut-down, (disconnect power). Now do a full power on boot and it will come up fully functional. As my o/c Kernel, the one I am using is broken, my good builds are on my Win7 HD, right now I am doing some builds and working with the Win10 IoT HD. There are several 2.0 Kernel.img listed in the RK3288 Forums, you will need heat sink and fan for anything over 1.8. Please let me know if you have problems, I can be confusing at times and don't mind being told so, old age does wonders for the mind.

You can dual-boot this ROM with Firefly Lubuntu or my v1.5 Lubuntu/Xubuntu by using my parameter file from v1.5 ROM and swapping kernel/resource.img with Firefly one and flashing Firefly boot-linux.img to recovery partition.

3D Acceleration hasn't been released by ARM, they would have done it in February.
As the manufacturer of the GPU not even they know exactly what to do and they put the blame on Rockchip. They say a 3.14 kernel is needed.
Another user mac_L1 got support from other RK3288 companies and their engineers help him to finalize VPU acceleration in Lubuntu for Kodi and other video playback apps.

Rockchip is working on improving Lollipop firmware that will fix a lot of issues and will also release Windows 10 for RK3288 devices.
Lollipop will fix a lot of issues with passthrough that people are experiencing and might provide ARM Trustzone support to run Netflix etc. in 1080p.
So even if GPU acceleration is not released for Linux, you will still have GPU acceleration in Windows 10.

    TV: Sony KDL-40s3000 ...... http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Dc9oCCC...L-40S3000.html
    Receiver: Pioneer VSX-520 ...... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882117339

Using the receiver to send video to the TV and play the audio via HDMI cable.
I have absolutely no audio at all via HDMI with my receiver set to auto surround, or any setting for that matter.

This is the only logcat that i had time to do and i cant quite figure out how to change audio settings in the android video app. i know how to change them in kodi.
    https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_...eVk&authuser=0

i hope that helps. i will try to do more later tonight.

Ok here is another log of a restart, opening spmc, and playing an HD movie that is Dolby Digital.

when i say i have no audio at all i mean i don't even have android system sounds (notifications, touch sounds, etc, etc)
Android is set to HDMI bitstream during the above 2 logcats.

    Can use 'Catlog'
Try with stock player, normal stereo audio and save log then 5.1 audio and save log.
Then use MXPlayer with custom codec enabled and try stereo save log and try 5.1 or higher audio and save log.
Can also try SPMC(make sure passthrough settings are enabled).
Try to restart the device everytime you do a new log.
As soon as the device restarted enable logging in the app and use the same videos to test.
Maybe upload a 30 second clip of the videos or use freely available test videos so other users can try the same files.
Also list the audio setup eg. surround sound system name, 5.1, 7.1, SPDIF, DTS/AC3, Dolby Digital, TrueHD etc.
