Best part of Nvidia lollipop is you don't have to use the Crap side loading ect just install your favorite launcher and go. No other andriod box allows this. I personally hate lean back square box or apex or even nova betterMany devices now mk902ii/Shield/Mk68 /Ugoos/neox5/minix5 (yes they still work lol) mk80 no it doesnt work lol.

what are you talking about? every box i've used was EASIER to install 3rd party launchers b/c i DIDN'T have to sideload. i did have to sideload on the Shield tho. What is annoying about this being an AndroidTV version of android is that none of the advances that have been developed and implemented for other set top boxes like "right click back" and other mouse features just don't exist on this Stock ROM. Besides that thread is for the Shield Portable. NOT the Shield Console or ShieldTV w/e they are calling it

Hi,
We are sorry that you were unhappy with your experience. We currently support hardware decode of VP9, H.264, and H.265. We will expose our MPEG-2 hardware engine to Android TV apps in an update this month. It will be up to app developers to design apps to take advantage of our MPEG-2 acceleration.
We will also be adding pass-through support for Dolby HD and DTS HD MA audio codecs in a future update. We also appreciate your feature request for 23.976 playback support and are considering adding support for it. We do provide frequent Software Upgrades on SHIELD products so you can expect features and functionality to expand over the upcoming months.

Looks like the main bitches about some mpeg and pass through are being addressed. And nice to see they already in the works on those issues. Thank god I'll never have to buy another Allwinner device 😆😆😆😆Many devices now mk902ii/Shield/Mk68 /Ugoos/neox5/minix5 (yes they still work lol) mk80 no it doesnt work lol.

I have it on my shield right now and I wouldnt recommend it for those who have 4k tvs because once you install that rom over android tv you lose 4k netflix, the 1080p android tv doesnt work and crashes so your forced to the playstore version which is limited to 720p and looks like shit upscaled. On top of that youtube is limited to 720p, the controller doesnt work wirelessly, when youre in the leanback launcher recommendations dont work and a bunch of other stuff.

Ya I don't get the advantages of this rom over the stock? Root is easy to option so why even load this one? I know one or two programs also cause an issue so I'll stick to stock for now beta testing at later date as more custom become stable. Many devices now mk902ii/Shield/Mk68 /Ugoos/neox5/minix5 (yes they still work lol) mk80 no it doesnt work lol.

Let us see the 3288 release of lollipop this month and do a quick list of what they missed having in that release.
Just my for cast in advance so I can I said it first lmao.
1- No launcher will work except lean back.
2- Mouse support will be hit and miss.
3- None of the playstore apps on Nvidia will be present
4- Half of those won't even work.
5- Side load will be hit and miss.
6- Lower end manufacturer will just copy and release without any pass through support.
7- Video issues in all different formats (hey just saying because not one release yet missed that one lol)
8- Network or WiFi won't work.
9- Developers will have to correct a host of issues all will learning totally new platform.
10- You'll have to pay shipping to send it back to factory because it still doesn't work. Only to be told no one on thier end excepted it so you'll be put shipping and the box 😱😱😱😱Many devices now mk902ii/Shield/Mk68 /Ugoos/neox5/minix5 (yes they still work lol) mk80 no it doesnt work lol.

Agreed, not much point in it. Stock has far superior features.
I see. NVIDIA are adding mpeg 2 support later this month
I get the feeling this box is going to be very well supported, there was nothing worse than when the Chinese companies would give a months worth of support then suddenly vanish, not to mention the inconsistent hardware! I'm still also still shocked by how easily it runs 4k videos. My old Rk3288 just couldn't handle them at all.
