Price will determine its success, I would think. Places like newegg sell J1900 motherboards in the US for $60 and up. Similar barebones sets go for about $110 and up.
It will be interesting to see where this fits in.

They would then need a case/power supply I am guessing would add a few more bucks but I see were you are coming from.
For the average bloke, already to go in a box I think would be preferred, interesting times ahead.

We live in exciting times. These little PCs are amazing. From the size, to the power, to the price, to the efficiency and capability, their amazing. I got my start in computers and PCs on devices like the Intel 8088, TI 99-4A and mainframes like the DEC PDP 11/55. So forgive me for being amazed, but watching all of this develop, has been spectacular.
                Anyway, enough about my age.
Here are some of the J1900 mini PC examples I mentioned . There are a few reviews of one model here.
So I am very curious about the Ara.
Thanks for the info and pics trebor, nice thread.
I'll be keeping an eye on this box.

                  Yep Its all good fun,
I am also amazed how well Windows and these little boxes we have now, the VOYO, PIPO etc a few teething problems heat etc but in true spirit lets not wing about it lets fix it.
I had a quick look around for various J1900 and others model. Lots of the N2820 going cheap but they are a little slower/older if that the word to use.

I think Tronsmart picked a good entry level lets see what else appears on the horizon. SDD and ram always bargains around, Are we having fun yet, wont be long.
                  Cheers

why waste resoures on a display port? it would have been better to bump the RAM spec, graphics spec, more usb3 ports hdmi 2.0,, maybe upgradable processor zif socket (5w intel i3 processor, 10 watt R9 4k amd or intel 4k graphics)
somehow I think the designs are all being done in Asia... without any US input.. which would be their 2nd or 3rd biggest market.

This is a nice looking box and I can see it selling well.

I've got a spare SSD and 4Gb RAM so very tempted.

I'm just checking one thing with Tronsmart first as it states 128Gb max for an SSD in the specs and I only have a spare 256Gb.

It appears to have extra MSD slots inside I recall.
