UPDATE - Google Play update issues yet again! new 3.5.16 version

    OK all that I suspected is true.

    So as suspected no way would the market update /system as on many Tabs that is RO (Read Only). So after doing the update I find in /data/app com.android.vending-1.apk THIS IS the new Market AND you will get a different APK based on your device! I know this because I messed around with this updater and 3 times I got a different APK file size depending on what I told the Market what device I have.

    So this means the /system/app of the old Market is still there! The importance of this I do not know yet but I think maybe more things in /data has changes and not just the new vending.apk.

    Stay tuned! I have some interesting ideas here I want to mess with
    It could be Google has changed how they identify devices!

      Got google play!

      On my phone I Downloaded Google Play Books from the Market. After it installs the Play icon is in tray and opening it asks to accept Play terms then says installing Store continue. I used this apk to get Google Play store 3.4.7 on my Polaroid 700. Installing it replaces Market.

        By the way... here in the USA the icon and the labels are "Play Store" and not "Google Play".

        Maybe this is a translation difference with other languages?

          Read my post just after yours. I played with the APK. It is different than what Google finally decided to install. So understand if you use a APK there "maybe" some differences.

          It would be nice if everyone that gets the "auto" upgrade would go backup the new APK in /data/app so I can see whats going on.

            I have the play store apk. I couldn't attach because the file size was 3.61Mb and your limit is 2Mb. Does any one want it?

              Good idea. I will PM you my EMail addy and will put it on the server. But more important I want to see what file difference we all get. So when you Email me tell me what Tablet you have.

                finless I sent the 3.4.7 apk. I have it working on my Polaroid PMID700 with finless v1.4 rom. This apk came from a android assistant app backup on my Rooted T-mobile Mytouch3g running ezterrys gingerbread v1.0 2.3.7. What I did on my phone - because I wasn't seeing the Play store, I uninstalled my market updates from 3.4.4 to 2.3.6. (not sure if this part matters) Then when I went into my apps in the market and I seen a update for Google Play Books and Installed and then installed the Play store !

                  So after 3 downloads yours being the 4th, it is also different in file size! Because it actually came from a different registered device! This could be important. I do not know yet but will work on it

                  Everyone else.... Please if you have the time PM me as I would like your APK. We can build a difference database and with all of us, maybe find the best version

                    whats the file size differences? Maybe there is some user data or country differences?
                    Btw I reinstalled the market apk in system/app. Then opened and it was loading up but then said connection lost. I retryed a few times then gave up and went Home. Then i opened the app tray and Play store was still there and works. strange.

                            Finally Bob, even the UK got it before you Bob we are usually last, hehe.

                            Btw the name on the UK update is play shop on the icon and looking in settings it is named Google play store

                              Hi Guys
                              Today I played with my arnova after one week off.
                              By doing updates, market becomes google play. OK.

                              I tried to downloads updates for my apps, but the google play crashed. After a reboot, all seems to be OK, updates of my apps were done properly.

                              I have your 1.4 Rom bob (modified to make my 3G Stick works).
