In the build.prop file...which is in the root folder of the system scroll down until see an entry with a country/city name. Change it to Australia/(biggest city in your time zone). I'm in US central time, so I use America/Chicago. Try that.

Also, you can find the region and language and change them. Here it is US...and en for English.

are you talking about settings>date & time on the android itself because that is already set to brisbane? or somewhere else like the riley rom folder on my pc before I flash?? (I also tried the android 'explorer' app to try and search for the ROOT folder...

You need to download a file manager app that will access the root folders.

I use an app called Xplore. ES File Explorer is also popular. Go into settings and give it root access. Then you can browse the root folders.

In system there is a file called build.prop. Find the region code and change it to the two letter abbreviation for Austrailia. Then save and reboot. Be careful not to change anything else.

okely dokely. used xplore and root acces was already et to "NORMAL- showing root folder in normal way, works on all devices". Found the region set to US under build.prop but couldn't find a way to change the letters. Then set the root access to "Superuser + mount writable" and tried the same with no luck. Do I need to use SuperSU to edit the region letters or is there a trick using Xplore? Really appreciate you taking the time!

"Normal" is the setting without root access. Press on the "Normal" line and it will give more choices. Pick the bottom choice for full root read/write capabilities. Then you can edit the build.prop.

yep tried that "superuser + mount writable" superuser mode, which allows changes in read-only folders (this is the bottom most choice). Still wont let me edit the text. Downloaded ES FILE EXPLORER and was able to navigate to the build.prop folder (funnily enough it asks to use Xplore at that point) and was able to edit/ change the 'US' to 'AU' but when I tried to save an error came up (i'm guessing cause I haven't given it proper access yet)??

You have the correct tools to get it done. It is a challenge editing build.prop on a running machine. It might not let you do it.

If you can wait until Wednesday, I can go a system.img with your change that you can flash. I might be able to do it in the morning.

I just finished that other ROM, and I can't even look at a computer anymore tonight...2317, here...time for bed.

You can keep trying. Maybe copy the build.prop to another folder and make the edit...then attempt to copy it back...it might let you do that. It has been a while since I've tried it on a running tablet.

Since you have all that set up, you might try a reboot and see if it will let you do it.

                Just a couple of ideas.

Ok. I just wondered...because this is the 1.7 thread.

I'm downloading the 7/27 release of the M9 firmware. Stay tuned.

I might go ahead and do an AU version for you.

they've released another update already? this bodes well for regular updates for the short term at least! Thanks randy. I will let you know if I have success changing the region and save you some hassle!

ok. was able to copy the build.prop file to DOWNLOADS then edit it so it is now Australia/Brisbane as well as changing the region to AU. Successfully copied back to, and overwrite the original. Unfortunately still can't play that particular channel. But it looks like it maybe more of an incompatibility with the channel and android itself?? I can view programs off other local channels alright. Someone suggested an app designed to view programs off that channel but strangely enough Playstore says that the particular app (plus7 app) isn't available for my location. Could be just that app though... Thanks again randy for your hard work. The rom works great!

It may be the same file...just from a different location. I will still take a look.

Having to translate all this Chinese is tricky.
