I don't know is it just my box but the remote is just terrible on my D32. You must point remote straight into the box to work. If you move just 20-30 degrees left or right box will not receive the signal. I even tried with new batteries but its the same.

As I recall I didn't have those problems on my D5. Also, In my humble opinion playback was smoother on D5.
