Found a couple of oddities which probably no solution but here goes. Perhaps this is related to the DroidLogic system control referenced in the first post but the virtual keyboard is non-functional with Amazon Fire TV stick remote. For example, open up YouTube app and go to search for a video. When the on screen keyboard opens you can choose letters with remote but they don't appear on screen as its as if you are hitting the space bar. An air mouse will allow selection of letters with the virtual keyboard. Would a different keyboard work or Is there any possible fix for using remote? Using a Fire TV remote allows key entry on the virtual keyboard and the microphone button is recognized however no audio is received.

I think the resolution on tablet version is 480P which works fine on my box using Magendanz's ATV rom. Try installing it from the Aptoide App store for TV which is optimized for Android TV. That's where I downloaded ver from. The one of the ATV Google Playstore will not work.

You mean for the Android TV version? Yes, in theory that's possible. I just don't know anyone who's managed to do it yet.

Apparently, the S912 and S905X don't have support for Vulkan, and they don't want to maintain the old Amlogic codecs with hardware decode. I agree that it makes no sense, but it's made no sense to me that they haven't maintained the Amlogic codecs for Android 6.0. This brightness bug should have been fixed 9 months ago, and I can't understand how they expect to be taken seriously with that level of support.

I understand the 7.1 release is 64-bit, so bringing over a 32-bit codec from 6.0 probably wouldn't just work. Some 64-bit wrapper would probably be needed.

Well, their solution in 7.1 is to remove the Amlogic codec and rely on software decode, so there's really nothing to port back to 6.0. Kind of lame, in my opinion.

Minor updates to Camera2 app and LightHome launcher. Nothing else of substance that I could find just diffing the system directories.

That's actually what I was saying. Only 3 boxes use Android TV. magendaz built this rom based on those. In his first post "pure nexus project". Flash as you noted, and if needed, flash the wifi zip file (if you need the ampak update).

    Good luck!.

Well, that's actually a hotly debated subject right now among ROM developers. With the Mecool M8S Pro and KM8 P we're getting our first S912-based units shipping with Android 7.1, and they seem to be based on a new Amlogic reference board (q20x). We could certainly be releasing custom Android TV ROMs for this hardware, and in theory we even retrofit the q20x ROMs for q201 hardware like the Beelink GT1. (This is more difficult, since it requires porting the new kernel to an older device tree...but it might be possible.) Also, we'll need updated Amlogic tools, since the Android 7 file system is packed differently.

The problem, however, is that they removed Vulkan API support from the Amlogic SDK 7.1, so there's effectively no video hardware acceleration on these chips. The Amlogic codec (with all its flaws) is also gone, so on the Android 7.1 platform Amlogic will be at a pretty severe video performance disadvantage compared to the newer RockChip SoCs. We're asking ourselves, "Is it worth it?"
