I enabled RGB fix and the screen went black, the remote didn't do anything. I pulled the power cable and plugged back in, once on to the home screen the screen went black again. Why is the screen going black and can I disable this somehow without having to reflash the firmware?

There isn't two same boxes. E.g. you have a box. But there isn't another with different hw component with the same model name but with different software.
There are lots of boxes with different softwares so everyone should know there isn't guarantee for working. As example there are boxes with proper auto frame rate but the most of them (99%) don't work properly but could do (due to only the manufacturer attitude).
And there isn't two same configs (working depends on tv as well).
This is the price of cheapness.
So if you need a function which doesn't work with the current box you can wait for manufacturer to fix/do it or buy a better supported box which has the function. But as I mentioned there isn't guarantee for working. Eg. tv is on the config..
