    Pipo M6 4.2.2 RileyROM 1.5 [SDK 2.0] - [Feedback]

Make sure you put your backup folder on your external sd. Copy over all of your videos to external sd.

Before you flash, power down and remove your external sd.

Don't use the restore missing apps with data. Restoring any system data from an older rom may cause problems...or carry over problems from the previous rom.

    Enjoy.

I meant DO select "Restore Missing Apps with data". This only restores the data for the apps...not the system.

I just uptated to 1.5 and so far I can confirm that it is snappier than 1.4. However there are a couple Chinese app but easy to uninstall and also there is no pipo launcher. Although this not a big deal it would be nice yo have tablets original launcher too. In 1.4 we had pipo launcher. So is there a way to download this launcher from somewhere?

Thanks for for your efforts Randy..

Pipo requires you to enter a pass code to activate all of their custom apps, including the launcher. If you don't enter the code, you get constant nagging notifications.

You have to contact Pipo to get the code. So I feel that this detracts from the user experience. So I remove it all.

I have played with their browser. It seems pretty cool at first, but I prefer Apex launcher.

It would be nice Randy if we can have the option to use the Pipo launcher. Just a thought. Thanks for your hard work.

                Hello everybody,

I am a recently new user of PIPO M6 3G version. I am living in France and english is not my native language so sorry in advance for any issue with that.

I am using the M6 PIPO for few weeks now and I found it to be a very nice pad, smooth and responsive. 3G application works very well with my country cell provider(Free Mobile) and WIFI is ok (not fantastic in terms of signal sensitivity, if I compare with my Android cell phone, but still ok).

The ROM version installed on my pad is dated 17th of June. It is the official PIPO soft but cleaned from all chinese apps (exept the big Smiley in the upper right menu). It is not rooted and no SDK2.

Due to that, I would be interested in flashing your new improved ROM version and see if the tablet can even be better.

In addition, I am using the PIPO launcher for few weeks and I really really like it. It really suits my needs and I would be very sorry to loose it (it is actually my preferred launcher if I compare with the ones I use or used on my Android Phone).

Can you please further details the procedure to keep the PIPO launcher while using your ROM version?

                Thank you all,

                HappyDaddy

Bonjour monsieur I can confirm that rileyrom 1.4 had pipo launcher without any password issue as opposed what he mentioned earlier.. somehow it had it and did not ask for any passwords or so on for pipo launcher.. unfortunately 1.5 does not have and although ı tried to install it with my titanium backup it did not work and I do not know how to activate it. Riley told in the forum that we have to contact pipo but its curious how it worked for me in 1.4 ..

It would be really nice to be able to use pipo launcher as well ı agree with you guys.. any possibility riley?

Keep fingers crossed it is a new one.

I was told that this newest official ROM is still based on SDK 1.0 (so the rksdk line says in build.prop). It looks like Pipo is struggling with SDK 2.0 for this tablet - a few beta versions leaked, but no official version yet.

I tried the latest official Chinese version from PiPO and am sad to find that it lags a lot! In contrast RileyROM 1.5 is very smooth. But still I do not find any improvements with SDK 2.0 compared to SDK 1.0. What improvements/changes are SDK 2.0 supposed to bring?

Yeah the new official ROM isn't good, i think there is a new Kernel in it? It may be worth pulling the Kernel from it and adding it to Riley 1.5?

                            Hello everyone,
I just received two pipo m6 3g. One of them performs very good but the other one has wifi issues, the wifi is disconnecting randomly and i have do i restart of the tablet or wait 5-10 minutes to connect again. I have tried with two different routers, the hotspot from my phone seems to work thou. So i installed Rileyrom 1.5 but had some system freezing and the wifi didnt improve. I went back to the latest pipo rom but the issue remains. After i flashed the new rom the kernel was still from the rileyrom, shouldn't it changed to? It seems like i have either a hardware problem or wrong kernel? Appreciate all help i can get.

                              Guys,

I took the latest chinese img and unpacked it and extracted the kernel (kernel version 49 Sat Jul 27) i then added it to your 1.5 Rom Randy (I think you had an earlier kernel version,36?) I think im getting a pretty snappy Rom with this combination. Do the kernel updates update the speed and snappiness or is this just placebo?

Sometimes, they only change the kernel...that's where the factory magic is, anyway.

I just got done making v1.6 from this new release. I'm adding this new CWM recovery to it as an option. It will still default to stock until I get reports that it works without a hitch. Just rename recovery.img to stockrecovery.img and cwmrecovery.img to recovery.img before flashing. You can also flash it by itself by unchecking everything except recovery.

Also, by request, I added a zip file with all of the removed apps. If anyone wants to try them. I'm not sure they will work without being in the system.img to begin with, but if you want to play you can (I can't support them). You need the passcode form Pipo to run them.

If you run CWM...remember, you will have to clear cache as soon as it boots to CWM Recovery. Then, on first boot...you will need to manually mount internal NAND (SD). You will see a "damaged storage" error...just touch the error notification and select "format". That will set up your internal NAND. Make sure your external SD is taken out until after you do this, because it might erase it.

Stay tuned soon for the upload. They are pretty big files, so it might take a while.
                                Randy
