I just got done making v1.6 from this new release. I'm adding this new CWM recovery to it as an option. It will still default to stock until I get reports that it works without a hitch. Just rename recovery.img to stockrecovery.img and cwmrecovery.img to recovery.img before flashing. You can also flash it by itself by unchecking everything except recovery.

Also, by request, I added a zip file with all of the removed apps. If anyone wants to try them. I'm not sure they will work without being in the system.img to begin with, but if you want to play you can (I can't support them). You need the passcode form Pipo to run them.

If you run CWM...remember, you will have to clear cache as soon as it boots to CWM Recovery. Then, on first boot...you will need to manually mount internal NAND (SD). You will see a "damaged storage" error...just touch the error notification and select "format". That will set up your internal NAND. Make sure your external SD is taken out until after you do this, because it might erase it.

Stay tuned soon for the upload. They are pretty big files, so it might take a while.
Oh no! I'm going to have to flash again!

So 1.6 will go back to SDK 1.0? That's becoming really confusing.

It looks like the latest stock is SDK 1 but there's not much difference between 1 and 2 with some even saying 1 is better.

I think im getting a pretty snappy Rom with this combination. Do the kernel updates update the speed and snappiness or is this just placebo?
          Hi Batfink32,

I'm trying to learn how to unpack this stuff without luck. Care to share how you did it, what tool did you use to unpack? Thanks man.

Here is the link, use Wendals Rockchip tools http://www.rockchipfirmware.com/developer-tools The tools for the earlier Rockchips will work for the RK3188

Can you provide the link to the ROM from which you extracted the kernel??

It is the same kernel that is in my 1.6 ROM I posted today.

I've tried both 1.5 and 1.6 Roms now and the best combination is definitely kernel 49 from 1.6 Rom but with the SDK 2 system from the 1.5 Rom. For me, I can use the full HD setting with this combination and its pretty much smooth. Thanks Randy.

Wow, I've been away for a few days and 2 versions have almost skipped past me! Anyways, thanks for all your hard work Randy! I noticed that you mentioned you will upload version 1.6 but I can't seem to find a link. Is it live?

By the way, I wasn't happy with the performance of 1.4 so I went back to 1.3 which didn't change the performance by much. I did notice that it seemed to run perfectly after the flash until I started restoring my apps. Mind you, I don't have that much installed and all my videos/pictures etc. are on my external MicroSD. I think I had used around 5GB but decided to erase some. I now use around 3.5GB and can notice it being much smoother. The areas in which I can feel a difference are in the speed that apps launch, on screen keyboard response, input registration speed in the browser and general interface response. I never had a problem with games performance or watching HD movies.

I'm not sure if this is related but I read that JB 4.3 is supposed to help the Nexus devices improve performance by fixing a problem with the way Android handles storage or something (it went right over my head). Reports only seem to mention that it's supposed to help the Nexus devices since they said the problem only existed with them (I could've misunderstood), but perhaps it's an overall Android problem?

That new thread is sticky'd to the Pipo forum.

                            CWM Recovery

                            Hi guys,

Just to let you know that you can install CWM flashable zips via CWM recovery. I've installed Crossbreeder through CWM. Backup works too, though have'nt tried restore.

Does Crossbreeder speed things up at all?

Hard to say. I have'nt played with it that much, but on my Newman N2 phone; I'd say yes. Try it. There is an uninstall package as well.
