Hi. I've recently just gotten this box (from geekbuying) but somehow it's plain without root and any installation of kodi etc.I cant seem to root it nor install supersu (playstore will have error 504). I noticed from other online forum that there is a firmware for A5X Max, not sure if this firmware is applicable to this box (cant see the difference between the 2 boxes besides the + sign on this box). Would you be able to let me know how to get the right firmware (and if its pre-rooted) for this box or guide me to the right tools to root my box and/or fix playstore supersu installation?

I have opposite problem than Jerryclm
Somebody know how unroot this device? Some official vod app do not tolerate rooted devices.
When I try unroot it by superuser menu after reboot device it is still rooted :/

I recently have the box , but the external hard drives/flash usb or SD Cards don't recognize it to add data . Only read this drives. Do you know a solution ? Thanks .

I've managed to flash this and fixed the root issue, but this version still doesn't come with the navigation panel nor the notification panel. anyone managed to get those 2 things sorted or recommendations of apk to install it into this box? also it seems that I am not able to install live wallpaper to this, while the apk installation works fine, when on the preview of the live wallpaper, the buttons for options and apply wallpaper are missing, anyone have any idea to solve this?

Kush, the ROM trebor pointed out is rooted. Just flash it. It does not have SuperSU included, or any other app to control root access, but it is rooted, I checked.

Unfortunately, flashing requires this strange Standard_A_USB_male to Standard_A_USB_male cable (like the one below). You can buy it or you can cut two regular cables in half and solder together two pieces of cables (connect wires of the same color) to have two A male connectors.

Use USB-4 socket on the A5X to flash, others will not work.

BTW, if anybody found (or created) an UI app with a navigation bar, and/or notifications for the A5X, please post it here :-)
