Hidef (1080) but not 4k, same with YouTube.

Although, on my LG OLED 65C6P, it seems to upscale everything. When the Tanix first comes up it identifies my screen as a 4k2k 60hz screen, sets HDR (calls it Resolution Deep Color) and sets an option "auto switch to the best resolution" to on. The LG reports it's receiving a 4k signal.

There is another setting that upscales content to HDR and when turned on the LG reports that everything coming from the box is HDR. I'm not a fan so I have that turned off. (It's off by default)

My mega 4K YouTube playlist looks fantastic piped through this box and while I don't like the HDR upscaling, the 4k version appears to work rather well. I can't seem to find where to disable it.

I can't find a TWRP version that works by putting onto an SD card (recovery.inf) in order to do an nandroid backup. Someone has reported they were successful in loading a custom rom, but I've been around this block to many times and I don't play if I can't start with a verified backup in hand.

Having said that all my custom rom experience is with phones and tablets, this is my first rooted TV box - so if I'm missing something obvious, point me in the right direction. Not only am I not afraid, I enjoy the exercise.

Maybe it's compatible.

How is it?

All in all, I'm loving it.

A few oddities.

2 different setup programs which overlap each other. In some cases changes made in one are reflected in the other and sometimes not.

Nova launcher install and you can set it as the default home (in 2 places) and it works well with a single exception. From a boot the original launcher comes up but as soon as you hit the home key (or exit from the first app you run) it's all Nova launcher until the next boot.

Sure is. It loads and runs apps I own that require root. Aida64 and similar apps report it as rooted as well.

First device I've owned that came rooted. I almost felt cheated.
