Pipo has just released a new firmware 20130814 so it looks like we are going to have a new Riley ROM. I hope we can have multi window soon. Samsung already released 10.1 with multi window.

Multiwindow is good ofcourse but what I am hoping a faster and less laggy system.. ok mali400 may be weak but we have to feel we are using a quad core tablet so far MTK6589 PHONES are somethimes even more responsive than my note 2 and pipo m6 is worse.. and I believe this is not hardware totally firmware quality.. so waiting for 1.7 (btw lets hope this new firmware is official sdk 2.0) and much better than 1.6 crappy system (not kernel)

What does the rksdk line say in build.prop file of the newest firmware? Still SDK 1.00?

Pipo person on their Facebook page claimed that their August 8 ROM was already SDK 2.0, which I'm pretty sure wasn't the case (both from the build.prop file, and from people liking more beta ROMs with SDK 2.0 - aka Riley 1.5).

It is really easy at the end of a build to forget to change cosmetic things like version numbers. I think the build.prop said 1.0...but it might have been an oversite on the developer.

Anyway, I'm almost done with this new ROM.

But how come both beta versions (1.4 and 1.5) did have SDK 2.00 in build.prop? That would be a very selective oversight.

You'd need to find another method to confirm/debunk it before you can certain. Alot of things could have happened, including modifying an old build.prop and forgetting to change the sdk line.

I asked to PiPO team and the answer was that this is SDK.2 ....

                    Let's try!

Thank you Randy for your good work and your support on this Tablet

But it's not just build.prop - I thought it was a consensus here that 1.4/1.5 (with SDK 2.00 in build.prop) are snappier than 1.6 (SDK 1.00 in build.prop)?

So I guess only testing will show if the newest version is indeed using SDK 2.00.

will your 1.7 release include the CWM recovery?

Although ideal, there is no guarantee that a newer rom will be faster/snappier. It might just as well be slower an more sluggish. Whatever they fixed/improved/added in a new rom - could have negative performance impact. If they didn't notice during beta, wich I'm not even sure pipo does, then it will eventually go through. And with such rapid release intervals, its unlikely that pipo would pull a rom after release.

Still says SDK 1 in the build prop of the latest official FW. Kernel is now on No 81. Initial impressions are that it is snappier than the last official firmware but im not sure if its snappier than Rileys 1.5 yet. Im going to flash Riley 1.5 with kernel 81 to see what its like.

                              v1.7 is uploading right now.

I have done some things a little different, this time.

I switched to the Finless flash tool. No real reason, but I started using it this weekend while I was worknig on a ROM for a new mini PC I got (Ugoos UT1 is a really good TV box, if you are looking for one BTW).

I have included CWM recovery as an option. The default is stock recovery, but you can change that either in the flash tool, or by renaming the files in the RileyROM folder.

There is also a template for creating a CWM flashable ROM. I wouldn't use it the first time and with updates, but you can make it and use it to flash THIS ROM again, if you need to via CWM.

The old kernel branding tool I use to put the badge logo has problems with these newer kernels. The Freaktab team is working on a fix...so this time the kernel isn't branded...don't worry when you see the Pipo logo at boot.

Also included is the RKBatchtool in a folder on the ROM kit. You can use this to flash the stock ROM, but you can also use it to switch to flash mode if you have trouble using the Finless tool.

As soon as the files are uploaded I will post a link here to the new thread.

                              Enjoy!!!!!!
