Hello, sorry I read the various posts but I could not tell if MECOOL M8S Pro + and Mecool M8S PRO L 4K have the same characteristics or what their differences. Can you help me? I can not find complete features.

How do I switch between Libreelec and Android since it has no Hardware power button? Can I do that with the remote that comes with it or something like the Minix A2 Lite?

From Android use an app, either a reboot app or Reboot to LibreELEC app. And LibeELEC has an option to boot to Android.

Would you say this is a good box for Libreelec? Any other suggestions. Do you know the difference vs the bb2 pro?

Yes, you can. I dont see why you think that you cant?

Because my only experience with a box is an RPi that doesnt have such function and its very frustrating.

Can you turn this box on and off using a remote? Am looking to replace my RPi as a libreelec device and looking for a box that will not force me to unplug and replug the power cable everytime I need to use it.
Can this box do it since it has no hardware button? Can the BB2 Pro do it since that box has one?

I wonder if your AV port was working, mine definitely is. Not sure I want another one, they seem quite fragile.
Anyway, today I'm going to hit it with my hot air gun to see if I have any bad solder joints. Sometimes if I flex the pcb the HDMI o/p comes to life for a split second. No harm in trying.

You can always use your box as a server. I have a Pro that just sits on my network, and is my Plex, Emby and Tvheadend servers, using LibreELEC. I know I have a AV cable around here somewhere, and if I find it, I will see if it works on my TV. If it works, that will free up my Pro.

Edit: connected my box via an AV cable, but no video output. But, I had already killed the firmware that was running on it by trying to update the firmware with the burning tool.

I hate to say it, but I did the same thing, and no video output. I just purchased a replacement. Did not try the AV port.

Hi guys,

I got one of these boxes for Christmas and I think I may have broken it already!

I flashed the latest Magendanz Nexus TV rom which worked well. So then I decided to improve the heatsink because the box felt a bit warm. That also went well after a struggle to get the the heatsink off the cpu chip. Refitted it with some Arctic Silver and it all ran normally, but still felt quite warm. Next I decided to fit a larger HS and this is when the trouble started. Ever since then the HDMI output seems to have stopped working. The AV output does work, so it's not the software. I think I must have disturbed something when I was fitting the HS. I've put the original HS back now in case the larger one was touching something. Still no o/p from HDMI.

Any ideas, please?
