I actually picked up 3 of these from Woot. Where should I start with them? They will be for my 3 younger girls. I was mostly concerned with getting the Google play store on them, so we can get them a few apps. Any other needed mods or upgrades?
Has anyone had a wifi problem with theirs? I have two of the three in hand, one seems to connect to the wifi without an issue. The other will allow the wifi to be turned on, then it turns off if I try and input a network manually.
I look forward to configuring these. I know my girls will love them, they already fight over a couple of other tablets we have in the house.
Thanks in advance!

Re: ****OFFICIAL Polaroid PMID701c THREAD! root, market, and more!
I got mine two days ago. I've played with then quite a bit. They aren't going to blow my kindle out of the water, but they are certainly a great deal for the price.
I've already gone through the process of upgrading to android 4.0, installing the market, even flashing the Electricity Rom.
For simple use, just go through the steps to install the market in the first post of this thread. It will get the Google market installed quickly.
My first impression of android 4.0 on this tablet is that it is pretty laggy. I went back to 2.3, as this is just for my kids, and they won't be concerned with needing the latest features.
I like the Electricity Rom so far, but not sure if it is going to stay on.

In ICS, go to 'system settings' then scroll down to 'developer options' and then scroll the right-sided menu until you see 'Force GPU rendering'. Make sure that's checked. That should speed you up to what you'll find as acceptable.
Also, I have init.d support, so if you have/found an overclocking script that works with our Polaroids (again, v0.1 was to establish init.d, v0.2 will be to eventually include an overclock script, amongst other things) by all means share and I'll include it in the next build.

I'll be looking forward to your new version when it comes out.

Aspect Ratio
Thanks for all the work you guys have done on this tablet.
I just got mine yesterday - a refurbed from E-cost. My aspect ratio is stretched vertically - movies look fine, but the home screen is stretched so all the circles look like ovals and the browser text is narrow. I tried the 2 factory roms and Electricity all of them have it. Any one else have this problem?

dead spots on screen
I'm an android noob. I just got the 701c on woot and there are several screen areas that are dead - pixels are fine - just the touch is completely unresponsive.
I think it's a hardware issue but since I got this thing to learn some android tricks I thought it's worth asking.
Any chance this is sofware related and I can fix it with reinstalling android? Sorry if I'm not asking right. I just started learning all the lingo - rooting and roms and all that...
I've got 90 days and I'm willing to try anything that won't void the warranty.

I'd just start with the stock firmware from this page: http://southerntelecom.com/polaroidsupport/firmware/
look for "PMID701C Firmware Downloads" and you'll see Android 2.3 (GingerBread) and Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). If you're really ambitious, you could try both to see if either help, however the pessimistic side of me thinks that won't be the case.
