This is not a good "fix", for me some of the "rotation control" apps just work without any changes needed, changing "force_land" to "force_port" is a bad fix as it just changes the default forced orientation from landscape to portrait, a better fix is just to remove that line to have it auto rotated by default, as tv apps are landscape default also, there should be no issues.

@Magendanz Found a "fix" for the issue of display being forced/stuck in landscape and not being able to switch to portrait if/when needed/wanted.

    See -> http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...rtrait-display

This may be a "fix" you may want to modify/incorporate in custom rom builds?

So anyone knows how to decomplie .exe? like what we have with apktool?
because I would love to see what partitions are wiped additionally when using "force erase all" vs "force erase"

or even how to show all partitions with space used on android as mine should be 0

    edit:
    this should do https://android.stackexchange.com/qu...artition-table

i want to update to stock variant of this rom with usb burning tool. I understand that i have to follow your instructions:

Hit Start when you have the image loaded in USB Burning Tool, boot the device normally, connect the USB cable to the USB OTG port, and then type "reboot update" from a terminal window. The WorldCup driver should then detect the box and the flash will automatically commence.

    my questions:

    1) you say: boot the device normally. You mean to boot the box with the normal dc charger connected and then connect the usb a_a cable with the laptop (to keep the power) and then switch off the power charger?

    2) is the configuration of the burning tool correct as i show on my picture?

    3) the alternative would be to make the update with the update app which comes with the original firmware, using the ota update zip-file on a sd card or usb-pen.

But what would be finally the diference between the 2 installation methods (final result the same) ? If yes, i prefer the ota update, which seems to be easier.
Is the final result the same between the two installation options?

    thanks

I've used Force Erase before and it didn't seem to wipe the Widevine or HDCP keys. I think it's the "all" aspect that can wipe secure key storage.

if we can wipe them with burn tool there is a good chance we could find where the keys are stored by looking at the code of "force erase all" which could lead to other things

@tillaz87 I just use the default setting with burn tool which is normal erase, I suspect most users would most likely do the same.

Since shorting the pins to restore firmware I have widevine L3.. not good

When using burn tool don't use "force erase all" guessing that's what done it.. does everyone else use *normal erase* ?

Hi Guys, I've looked at the photo for manually shorting pins for reset button http://freaktab.com/node/685682
but I am unclear as to what and where exactly the pins are (not very clear in photo) and how to go about shorting them?
Can someone please shed some light?
( How retarded is it that there is a reset switch on the M8S PRO but not on the M8S PRO L!!! Grrrrrrr :/ )

This might be useful information for those flashing from stock/factory rom using the USB Burning Tool with "reboot update" terminal command method.
You will need to install a terminal emulation app to do this and the recommended app is "Terminal Emulator for Android"
The problem is that when you go in Google Play on stock/factory rom because it's an Android TV flavor you can't see / download this app.
I tried a couple of other terminal emulators like "Temux" and "Qute" that did come up in Google Play on stock/factory rom but entering "reboot update" on these for whatever reason did not work. So I had to side load "Terminal Emulator for Android". You can do this by downloading the apk from a website or installing Aptoide to download and install it. "reboot update" command worked with "Terminal Emulator for Android"

@Magendanz may be worth including this info on first post for clarity
