    NEW - MK908-Android-4.2.2-jjhmod-v2.1 Alpha - Download

So here's the new rom I've been working on.. mostly it's testing that takes time. It is based on Minix's most recent firmware for the Neo X7. It's a beautiful rom with a few nice additions I haven't seen in other firmwares. The power button has more features. Click and hold it to see. I have included my v3.3 kernels which have been working awesome for me.. I have also included the version 3.1 kernels as a fallback. I have read that people have better luck with those kernels on the V3.0 mk908 hardware. They are in the folder named "V3.0 Kernel." I know it's dumb to have 3.1 kernels in a 3.0 folder, but the 3.0 on the folder refers to the mk908 revision... again, I wished they just released that as a whole new model number or something.

But anyway, the default kernel should work for most people ideally. As before there's a bunch of kernel choices depending on how fast/hot or slow/cool you want your stick to run and whether you want 720p or 1080p.

You can of course use any kernel that you like with this rom. I have bundled what has been working well for me on my mk908 version 1.0 stick. Most other RK3188 stick users should also be ok to use it with the functioning kernel of their choice I'd imagine.

I'm calling this an alpha release as it needs to be tested a bit by people other than me. Please, if you have a 3.0 version stick, try the kernels in the V3.0 Kernel folder if you have problems with my standard kernels. So here it is.

UPDATE - Removed the V3 hardware kernels as this rom doesn't appear to work with 99% of the V3 sticks out there.

Added New kernels for V1 sticks, should fix various filesystems support, camera support, a few other tweaks. MK908-jjhkernel-v3.5 Download Link
This kernel can be used with most any custom roms, but likely not the UNIVERSAL one made for V3 sticks.

    Good luck and enjoy!

You are amazing... producing new ROMs faster then what I can actually test...

Its funny, when I was looking for an Android TV, I stop my choice on the Minix X7, but it was delayed so I pick the MK908... and now there is a Minix X7 ROM that can run on the MK908..

Keep up the good work... I will install tomorrow and give you some feedback.

Thank you I look forward to it.

I am impatiently awaiting the arrival of my version 3 mk908 so I can actually make stuff that works right on it.

Seconded! The new Minix fw is fantastic. I have been testing lewy20041's 'Minix X7 Hybrid Firmware (HFW) 1.2.1' ROM with phjanderson's overclocked 1080p kernel on my T428 since this morning and the overall experience has been truly positive.

                  Test Kernels

I added some new kernels in the first post that will ideally work for V3 hardware mk908 sticks. I know that they work on the V1 stick for a fact and have had one other user confirm functionality. I have added a few things for webcam support and hopefully something that will help people with usb wifi dongles.. but I'm not sure on that one.

Honestly I don't have tons of linux experience with adding modules and such.. I could build you a kernel with that module turned on in the kernel, but it will break build-in wifi and possibly bluetooth as I cannot seem to find a way to add it as well as keep the ap6210 enabled. I could also try to build that module for you from my sources so you could see if that would work. If you get a chance, try the new kernel.. I did enable a couple usb wifi config options in there.

Using the V3.0 hardware kernels I updated?

nvm got your email. V3.0 stick doesn't like the rom.. I did clock these at 800mhz but I assume you've tested it with the one I PM'd you also.

The video with that 08/02 rom is way messed up, kernel-wise. This kernel with it probably makes it all funky. I had to use sources with overlay support to make a useable kernel for it but of course didn't have the stick to test. I had to use the 1080 kernel or it was all messed up too - even though it doesn't appear to be 1080 I think it is putting that resolution out the hdmi port... I'll make some more kernels with that source and change the voltages as per our discussions at some point in the near future here...
