Darn got my first bug! I was browsing in playstore and all of a suddun BAM completely power down!! Had to restart with power button.
I dont know what came in to it!! Maybe a ghost from old frameskip hahahahah Its mad because a fix has took its place.
No further probs tough....

Slight problem

I have installed the ROM - thanks Bob, much appreciated.

Before I flashed I used Ultimate Backup Pro to back up all of my apps (I use this on my Nexus 7).

Unfortunately UBP will not run with your ROM? It opens & just closes straight away.

Not the end of the world, but would be nice to auto -restore the apps. Any ideas?

P.S. Like Benster have got excellent Antutu result of 16482!

As I type this I am watching Avatar Directors Cut 1080 playing off my NAS drive over my HomePlug network. No stutter - better than my AC Ryan (Mede8er) box, video quality & sound is MUCH better on the X7. Never seen this film look so good!

My C310 camera works on my ROM I cannot test 925 as I don't have one. My bet is it will work as lewy's ROM is built off the same.


I noticed I made a few bugs in this ROM with the LauncherNEW. If you don't use it don't worry about it.
But if you do, you are missing a couple APK needed for it to work right.
I will release an update for those that want LauncherNEW.
Or I can remove all that crap? Some seem to want LauncherNEW. I personally see no use for it!

Also in this update I will make the mouse pointer a little bit smaller.

14GB parameter file

OK here is your 14GB parameter file. This will only leave you with 500 megs for internal SDcard.

Download this and put this parameter file in the finlessrom folder of my ROPM kit and set the flash tool to use it (like changing the kernel or boot).

Notes:
1) You must erase NAND using my flash tool or this will not take.
2) When it boots into recovery to format, formatting data will take a long time! It's not stuck just wait.
3) First boot of the ROM will be very slow! It has to setup this giant /data area! It will be on the boot logo for a while. Don't worry your not stuck just wait. Boot logo will also take a lot longer.
After first boot, regular boots after that should not really take much longer.

I fixed a couple things in the ROM. Nothing dramatic!
If you don't use LauncherNEW you probably don't really need this.


UPDATES for 1.4a
1) I fixed the LauncherNEW so it was not missing icons or settings.
2) I made the giant mouse cursor a little smaller.
3) I removed the widgets from the desktop to speed things up a little especially boot time!

4) I have provided a extra 14GB parameter file so you can set 14GB of APP space leaving 500mb left for internal SDcard.
ONLY use this if you know what your doing! If you use this, the first boot time is LONG!
This was added by special request.

NOTE! If you are already on my 1.4 ROM you do not need to erase and reflash everything for 1.4a
Just download 1.4a and in the flash tool unselect everything except system.img
Flash only system.img
All your installed APPs and data will be there.
You will loose any stuff you put yourself in /system though.

Well so far I'm pretty disappointed. Since getting my X7 on Saturday I've had constant freezes, reboots and forced shut downs. Tried 3 different ROMs and TBH I thought Bob's had fixed my woes as it was working great for about 4 hours but then late last night while trying to actually use the device, (instead of repeatedly setting things up again after new flash!!) Playstore froze, XBMC crashed it, Achos wouldn't launch, MX player froze it. After about six reboots (After each individual crash) I finally got 2 hrs of perfect 720p streaming from my NAS over WiFi. Just wish it was always like this.

So far I'd estimate 25+ crashes since I received the unit. I just hope that they are ROM related and not hardware.

There are 3 types of very distinctive crash...

1. System freeze, have to unplug and restart
2. Forced reboot, have to do nothing but the reboot seems to take a lot longer than normal
3. Forced shut down. Screen just goes black and have to manually start it.

Apart from all that the Finless ROM has been far more stable than the fist 2 stock ROMs (less freezes by far) And when I was relaxing watching movies last night it truly ran perfectly.

My last problem that is KILLING me is I use a F10 Pro mouse and after every reboot I have to set audio out manually as it reverts to the Airmouse as audio output every time, why is this? If I set Audio out to the default (the box itself) then why are my settings over ridden after each normal boot? I can't really see me EVER using the Airmouse for the Audio out TBH. Very annoying.

Thanks for your work BOB. As I said this ROM has been FAR more stable for me so far. Just not sure if I'm alone with all these freezes or if I may have a faulty unit.

I noticed that to bob, the whole apps button was missing. I tought it flashed wrong or someting.
Can I delete that launcher new in settings? No use for it.

Did you had any hangs or shutdowns with the x7?
Mine just powered off yesterday. Dont know why.

Hey all..... Worked on the X7 all day today!
Let me say it is GOOD to be back and in good health again, AND all the family stuff taken care of! Thanks to all those that waited!

Special thanks to Minix for sending me this awesome X7 TV player!
Minix listens to users and this forum and this is the best for everyone.
Consider buying the X7 as long term you wont be disappointed!

Much time was spent learning to patch the latest Minix X7 720p kernel (8/13/2013) with the vsync fix and making it 1080p! I know... probably not long before Minix themselves comes out with a 1080p kernel but what the heck! I wanted to learn to do it
So you all get it before anyone else!

Patching means, with no sources, figuring out exactly what binary code to change to convert 720p to true 1080p. Minix has not released a 1080P kernel based on the latest ROM they put out with many fixes including the vsync (frame skipping) fix.
Well I beat them to the punch this time. Not to challenge them at all I just wanted to do it myself!
My 1080 kernel is 100% the same as Minix's latest 720p kernel but patched to 1080.

Anyway the rest of this ROM is my usual stuff you all tend to like!
So enough babbling and lets get on with it....

Oh also, this ROM is based on the latest X7 ROM released by Minix!

Features and release notes for my 1.4a Android 4.2.2 Neo X7 ROM:

HEY! Let me just say I finally figured out how to PATCH a 3188 kernel to 1080!
It was a MAJOR PITA!!!! (Pain In The A**). I had to actually decompile many different kernels to find it! But I got it

1) Rooted and new SU and Superuser applied that supports Android 4.2.2

2) This time I did not change the parameter file. With 16GB and 4GB allocated for APPs, this seems like a good balance. However, if anyone wants this changed let me know and I can make different parameter files.

3) As always, full init.d support! If you do not know what that is... ignore it. For geeks that want to use it. It is there!

4) All Google required APPs updated to the latest version as of this ROM build.
This includes the play store and other required Google CORE and APPs.

5) I enabled location services. This is now in the settings menu. Tested and working with all APPs that use it. Remember to turn off GPS as we have no GPS. I also enabled Accessibility settings.

6) Gameloft fix. This fixes Gameloft games from crashing to the desktop.
Many of them do not run and crash to the desktop. This is due to a license check based on the device.
Special thanks to Christian Troy for inventing this fix. I modded it for this ROM.
I still cannot figure out why Rockchip has not fixed this in their sources for years now?
This Gameloft issues is on just about every RK TV stick or RK tablet ROM!
But it keeps us ROM dev's busy

7) Build.prop edit to open up the Google Play store to APPs that normally say "not compatible".
I am spoofing a Samsung device that will show almost any APP as compatible.
Your device will show up in Google play as Samsung device not a X7!
Understand this please.
I also left the original build.prop in the ROM called build.orig.
If you want to go back, just use ES File Explorer or a root file explorer and rename build.prop to build.old
Then rename build.orig to build.prop.
Go into settings, apps, all and go into the Google Play app. Clear the cache and data.
Reboot! You should be back to showing up as a Minix Nexo X7.

8) I give you a choice of boot.img's. One enables Airpin and one does not.
I personally do not use airpin so if you do not either then boot720no_air.img will remove it.
Why have the annoying airpin service if you do not use it!
With the 1080 kernel choice you need to use the boot1080 airpin or no air pin.

9) Of course as always I de-bloated the ROM of Apps you can choose to install from Google Play!
Starting with a clean ROM is important depending on what you want to use your X7 for.
Why have APPs burning resources if you never use them?

10) 720P and REAL 1080P kernel in this ROM! The choice is yours!
I beat Minix to the punch on this one! They do not have a 1080 X7 kernel with the vsync fix yet.
First X7 ROM out with a 1080p kernel based on Minix 720P kernel with vsync FIX!

11) I added a reboot APP that will allow optional reboot options like reboot to bootloader (flash mode).
Use this to easily get into flash mode to change boot.img's or later kernels!

BUG / other Notes:
1) It is known that the factory reset is not working even in the stock ROM. Expect an update.
2) Multi-channel audio is not working yet.
3) No pinch to zoom with the mouse wheel.

Mine also freezes - often I cannot even turn the X7 off using to on/ off switch - I have pull out the mains plug.

I am seriously thinking of sending mine back - shame as, when its working, its amazing!
