IT HAS NOT BEEN TESTED!
I made it from a system dump provided by another user, but I don't own this model, so I can't test it.
The modified recovery is used from external SD to perform installs.
The ROM is believed to be purely stock, no changes. It also wipes and reformats System, Data and Cache. Apps and Settings and everything will need to be reinstalled. There is no reason to flash this unless you need or want to restore your tablet to stock condition, or maybe you'd like to test it for me?
The root package only installs su. After flashing it you can install your choice of Superuser or SuperSu from the market.
I'll send you the link to the thread when I'm done posting it.Freaktab Rom Developer

Thanks for uploading these files! It took me awhile to figure some things out but I eventually got there. I had never booted my 8P12 into Recovery before so I had to find instructions for that: hold the [Vol -] and [Power] keys down. (I was trying to hold down both Vol keys or just the Vol + key, with and without a pin in the reset hole. Arrggh!)
In reading through your instructions I had mistakenly gotten the idea that the Stock Rom package was optional but only after I ran it was I able to get the modded recovery to accept the Root and Gapps packages. D'oh!
I also thank you for your diligence in getting this set up right, with a closed thread in the downloads section and the discussion in the feedback forum. I hate wading through 40 pages of comments, not knowing which file is the most current. I like to see the current version in the original post with a comment in the discussion that the original file has been updated.

P.S. I did have a question for everyone who has performed your mods: what "native" apps can we safely delete?

I think you should be able to safely remove any APK from the system folder. Worst case, if you need it back, just boot to the modified recovery and flash the stock ROM to start over. Or you can install a modified ROM. There are a few out already.
I plan to release one soon that will have all the useless apks (like the stock android phone dialer for example) and most of the downloadable apks removed. Mine will also have a few new features, hopefully an EXT4 file system and probably TWRP recovery.

Work on mine is progressing, but unfortunately my Linux box crashed the other day. Trying to get my dev system setup again. I'm not going to release my first modified ROM until I'm satisified that TWRP is fully functional. I don't want to end up spending more time on support than on continued development.

Since we're on the topic of recovery - I always get the following errors displayed within recovery:
E:Bad bootloader arguments
"(null)"
E:unknown volume for path [/udisk/factory_update_param.aml]
E:Can't mount /udisk/factory_update_param.aml
Do you get that as well?

Shaun,
You posted a link to this thread on XDA Developer's forum in a thread for a different model of Nextbook tablet (NX008HD8G) - see your post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...90&postcount=5
That tablet is not rooted in its stock condition but it does come with Jellybean and Google Play installed. Are you suggesting that the same ROM will run on both tablets? If not, you might want to correct the post to prevent others from bricking their tablets.
Maybe you meant to link to this thread instead: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...Flashable-Root
I would respond to it myself there but I'm unable to do so since I don't have enough posts.Nextbook Premium 8 SE (Next8P12) - * ROOTED * (Sold on ****)
AML8726-M3 Cortex A9 @ 1GHz
Nextbook Premium 8 HD (N0008HD8G) - * ROOTED *
Nextbook 8 (NX785QC8G) - STOCK (unfortunately)
