MK 908-II in the house! WOW something has changed for the better!

    Setting this:

    sys.hwc.compose_policy=2

    I got an antutu score of 24,000!!!
    Video playback sucked though... It was also unstable. I am sure this is probably a Mali directive with the kernel? I am guessing to be honest.

    There are some serious combinations of stuff that need to be tested.

    But here is the deal.... I am going to release my first MK908ii ROM and leave this alone for right now until I learn more.

    My ROM will be out tomorrow for sure!

      Possibly because of my modest English, but I understand it correctly that you're about to gain new insights that can possibly apply for other (older) devices with the rk3188 if you are using the new kernel and so on?

            Yes I know this if you read my posts. This ROM is set to 0 and video is great along with other interesting improvements. setting to 6 actually degrades this kernel performance.

            Legitsu.... any idea what this is doing in the kernel?

                how is your new device behaving finless ?
                and will your custom rom be ready for it in the next 3 weeks (thats when i hopefully will recive mine)
                or has they changed to much in the firmware ?

                hopefully geekbuying will be quick with delivery so i can start playing around, and that reminds me .... i have seen a few "mod" builders putting the android stick in a box and im planning to do that my self but perhaps you could make a "mod" dedicated part on freaktab ?

                  I should have a ROM today but I am still messing with some things.

                  I want to supply a patched 720 kernel to see what performance is like wityh that instead of this new 1080 kernel they are using.

                    I would't bother scaling 1080 > 720 isn't enough of a performance hit to waste time on it (regardless of what antutu shows) I don't trust antutu anymore been getting some weird readings from it when it start playing with the scaling and compositor settings
                    afaik sys.hwc.compose_policy just forces different API levels allows to offload certain tasks or not depending on the policy set 6 should be the highest but as you found it can be flaky if not properly implemented 1 should be the equivalent of checking force hardware acceleration in the system options
                    currently trying to save up for a MK908 II when I get the extra cash to order one ill dig though the rom and do a binary-diff on the moduals and see what they changed

                      I successfully patched the stock 1080P kernel and made a 720P kernel for those wanting best performance and don't care to much about the 1080P hype.

                      Antutu scores over 20K with this kernel!

                      ROM will be ready today I think.

                      The ROM out of the box will be 720 and I will provide instructions for how to change to 1080P and get large icons like 720 if you want that.

                        Brilliant work mate, i dont have this i use an ouya and rasperry PI. Never have known why people like rockchip. I suppose this is partly geekbuying forum and they need to sell them BUT must say well done for your efforts and what you have given to the community

                          played with stock rom for mk 908 on my cx-919 and it Works well ,, good video with rk player and mx player hw, but +hw is not good .....archos and xbmc is not good and it has a ugly mousepointer but the best stock firmware i have tried so far

                              Found a major bug... Minix X7 had this too on a past release.

                              Factory reset does not work! I think I know the fix so stay tuned...

                                ROM is done... I just have to do the readme.txt which in fact is a lot of work for this ROM.

                                Thus it will be done first thing tomorrow AM for me.

                                This freakin ROM rocks in my opinion! In fact once done I plan to see how it works on the X7 as I think it has that ROM beat right now.
