Two attempts this morning each produced 500MB files instead of 680MB. Wish I hadn't deleted the first to compare exact sizes.

Just came back in the house and have started a 3rd attempt, but low expectations of success. And it is only 45-50KBs most of the time. Maybe Colin can put his up at a public URL.

I zipped it and now is 464mb (why the hell don't they zip it in the first place?)

Anyway, I'll send you a PM in a couple of minutes with a link.

Just a thought- I have heard of Firefox extensions which let you inspect the actual de-javascript'd download URL, and with that you could probably use "wget -c" to continue any aborted download where it left off. (a good idea to use wget from the outset, if possible, otherwise rename-away the '.part' extension) . Has anyone emailed Pipo asking them to extend the download timeout by 30%? (assuming it's a server timeout and not a great-firewall or client-side one) They are probably using up twice as much bandwidth as they need to because of this, since everyone seems to get hit by it.

Got the image sent by Pipo themselves after asking polite

There are a lot of problems with the downloads. Sometimes they are flagged as incomplete and sometimes it behaves as if it completed normally (no PART left around) but is just short. W/O any extensions, Chrome lists the URLs in its downloads window. In Firefox, the Library (Downloads) window doesn't display the URL, but I can right click and "Copy Download URL" to the clipboard. If I leave it as the original IP address form, it is always under 10KBs here for me. If I change this download to something that has worked well (say 100KBs) for me in the past, it "completes" after 512,229,376 bytes.

                      Code:
REMOVED ChromeDownloads (way too long and ugly) - I'll attach a .txt

                      10/31/2013 11:59 AM 33,343,660 update_M9pro_1.0.5_20131030.img.crdownload

                                     4 File(s) 1,058,766,770 bytes

That 33MB one is still chugging along, but won't complete in the 8 hour window in the URL. I've had the best luck in the early morning hours so I may just try then. When it is AFU, I've learned to just give up for the moment. I get similar performance from Firefox, just pasting the URL from the downloads window. If it is under 5KBs, it doesn't much matter what I use.

You got me to thinking that I hadn't tried lynx in a shell at an ISP (which would be a different route than from my house). I'll see what that gets me.

                      Read 6860 of 696808 KiB of data, 52 KiB/sec.

That's from the nj.baidupcs.com URL that terminate at 512,229,376 bytes.

                      But, the ISP choked here:

                        download mirror

Sorry guys, I went to bed. I will upload to a Google drive place when I get to the office and post the link when it is there. The internet here is being heavily monitored/filtered at the moment hence all your problems. Give me a couple of hours and it will be up there for you all. Rgds. Colin.

Thanks Ledba - that saves me the trouble of trying to upload to a server outside of China! I had to copy paste your link as it kept jumping out of the way when I tried to click on it - maybe a rule of the forum that links aren't allowed?? anyway, it seems to work, but all those poor guys out there now need to translate the Russian instead of Chinese ! I'm sure they will figure it out

                                Rooting stock M9Pro

Perfect ledba!! OK - now I am about to share the complete instructions and files for rooting stock. This has taken me about a week to get sorted and working and it still may not work for you. Don't be frightened about the QQ stuff - its fine, and the instructions are good as well - be patient with it all and it should work for you. IOn my first attempt the QQ status blue line went all the way to the end and then it did nothing - I got impatient and plugged in the tablet anyway and Voila it worked!! It basically loads the ADB drivers BillinCA has been talking about - but it does it automatically (albeit in Chinese!) This is a separate set of drivers in addition to the Rockchip USB drivers, and it does not stop them working. This method is advertised as working for all Rockchip 3188 devices, so could be used for other tablets. Be careful also with the USB debugging check box - needed for this, but not needed for flashing. Needed for titanium backup as well. I made a massive mistake of restoring all apps, data AND system stuff ontop of the newly rooted stock - it got to 97% and failed - I was stupidly trying to restore the RileyROM sys apps ontop of the Pipo stuff - NOT a good idea. However, after a couple of minutes sweating about having bricked it I left it alone for a while then reset with paperclip and hey presto up it came in both Pipo and Rockchip flash tools - Phew! OK - link to follow, I am having to switch between vpns to get all this done as the Govn't here doesn't like Google! https://drive.google.com/folderview?...VE&usp=sharing Here ya go - this should get you to the folder with all the good stuff needed to root stock! click once on each file and a download button appears!
