    Pipo M9 Max RileyROM 2.1

This RileyROM is based on the official Pipo firmware release dated 10/25/2013

One unique feature of this ROM is the addition of an overclocked kernel which was developed and tested by Freaktab user Dnkn, and tested by Kosfil. Many thanks for your hard work, guys.

The optional kernel is named ockernel.img in the RileyROM folder, you can flash it by clicking the browse box next to the kernel line in the flash tool and highlight the ockernel.img file.

If you want to switch kernels back and forth, you can without having to re-flash the whole ROM by unchecking everything but the kernel in the flash tool....and don't erase IDB before flashing. This overclocked kernel has been tested by a few users and runs quite well and makes a huge difference in speed, however there is a certain amount of risk associated with overclocking (much less flashing a custom ROM in the first place)...so think about the consequences...such as increased battery drain and overheating and death (of your tablet, not you). (I know, it sounds like a drug commercial...but I gotta say it...hahahaha!!!!)

I do recommend that you flash the whole ROM the first time and do erase IDB when you do so.

For OLD PCB M9 users, I will try to port this new ROM as I get time...maybe tomorrow. If so, I'll add the link to this post.

    This ROM is:

    Rooted
    Debloated to the max
    Init.d Support
    English Default
    Busybox commands added
    CWM Recovery as an option
    Multi-User support added
4, 8 or 12gb user app space as an option.

    Bootanimation by Tattman65
    Reboot app by Petrus
First Time User's Guide by Pr0xZen
    Flash Tool by Finless

    Download

I also ported the system of this ROM for the OLD PCB tablets. It still has the same old kernel, but there may be some improvement. Just compare and see.

    Enjoy!!!!!!

    GOOD!

So good to see that you've done a release with the new official PIPO ROM,. I got to say it's just definitive. All the problems I've had before such bluetooth conection with keyboard and recent apps with multiwindow off are gone. It seems that those dudes are doing his job well.

I'm staying with the official realese since I prefer to debloat and root it by myself, besides I'm not very fan of OC since the 1.6Ghz are just smoother than never.

For all people wondering if it worth to pass from Riley ROM 2.0 to this new one I would definitly say YES!.

Thanks for your great job Mr. Riley.

      Thanks Riley!

Just a question: if the overclock kernel can be adjusted by a program like setcpu, would it mean that there's no need to reflash back & forth, can just adjust to original speed?

Thanks Riley for the new release, so quick, great job

Btw, I think the overclock kernel is developed by dnkn, but tested by kosfil also. Just making sure he gets the proper credit, he deserves it

I just posted an Old PCB version of the ROM in Post #1. It's untested, but the last one I did worked with the exact same changes.

Randy, can I still use RKAndroidTool to flash this ROM? Frankly I always flash with RKAT, never with RK Flash Tool. Is there a reason for using one instead of the other.
Btw, the zip I downloaded is corrupt, I'm redownloading now to see if it's because of my bad connection or not

The RKBatchTool is for flashing one update.img file.

Since Freaktab ROM's are split into multiple files, you must use the RK Flash Tool.

There are many advantages to doing it this way...especially when you have multiple kernels and parameter files to choose from.

Hi Randy. Right, sorry I misread the name, I thought it was RKAndroidTool, while in fact it's RKBatchTool in the zip file. Yes I'm familiar with RKBT to flash whole img file.

Anyway, I've downloaded the zip file twice and both gives checksum error in both WinRAR 5 and 7Zip. Can you check the file please Randy? Thx

                        PCB?

I assume this is based on RK SDK2.0 ?

How do I know what PCB I have? I am probably going to buy this and I want to buy one with new PCB so I can use this ROM.

Yup, getting the checksum error too though file extracted fine, not flashing yet just in case...
