What brand controller and/or what controller app are you running on the X7 1.6 setup? Also, what EMU are you running Majora on smoothly?
Thanks.MINIX Neo X7

userdata.img - TWRP/CWM not working
Hi there,
We are currently experimenting with your custom rom as our rom of choice. We will be pushing a large amount of these boxes into hotel rooms to run our media platform on hotel room tv's.
Our team comprise of app developers - not system developers - so this is all new to us as we try to do things such as lock down the box and take over the system. We have successfully stripped the software down to bare essentials and replaced it with our own app, remote provisioning through an app service, and a bootanimation but there is just one thing missing... userdata.img ... we need to be able to flash settings and shared_prefs for some of the apps we bundle such as SuperSU shared prefs (to automatically grant our app root without the popup)
We've done backups of the data folder using TWRP, CWM and Nandroid Online, but none of the resulting files that correspond to the data folder seem to flash correctly using your flash tool.
CWM backups output ".ext4.tar" files but your tool has a placeholder text for ".img" - am i missing something here?

How do you think that is fair?
Personally that sucks to do so without helping me as well and I don't recall getting even a donation from you! I am not all about money but my GOD... to use it to make money and not contribute, then come here and ask for help.... Well you get my feelings about this!
I would be glad to help you so send me a PM and we can work something out and I can make you a commercial ROM to do exactly what you want, at a reasonable price.
But until then I ask you do not use my ROM to make money. That is not what my ROMs are about. It upsets me a little.... Just a little....

I work with Deminetix. I think he was a bit surprised at your response.
First thanks for putting the ROM together, nice work which I'm sure many people appreciate.
The main reason we are using the ROM is the we need adb root, which the stock Minix didn't do.
We are talking to Minix to try to get such a ROM from them, but as yet they haven't supplied this.
Since we're still in development, with only a couple of units, this doesn't bother us much.
So that's why we're using the ROM.
Second, in terms of using the ROM for commercial purposes.
We use free and open source software extensively in our work, every day, for commercial purposes.
And we consider ourselves good members of that community; we respect all licenses (e.g. the Android Apache licence, the Linux Kernel GPL - the main two which apply here) - and contribute back much useful code, both bugfixes and improvements, to many projects on a regular basis. So the spirit in which we do this, is entirely in good faith.
In terms of you getting paid for having put the ROM together.
I think most likely, as you suggest, if there's custom work for which we need an expert we'll certainly get in touch.
Thanks again
Nick

So you do realize using open source and GPL means that you as a company must also release sources and provide that to the public?
FYI I happen to work for a company the understands this ramification and we deal with it all the time.
So I expect any open source you modify will be shared with the rest of the community?
I can speak in "public speak" too and all political like too.... Unfortunately even RockChip doesn't speak this language. I am hoping your different?
If you take..... then share.... That's all I ask. If your coming here for help, then help by contributing either to the site that helped you or to the community of source. That's all I ask.
Right now, you are coming here to take and make a profit. That's the part that concerns me. We don't know you and what you might contribute back to this community. One thing is clear, you are a profit making business asking for community help. What will you give back?

Yes 100% right Bob - if you take GPL code, modify and redistribute it, you are obliged to also redistribute (or provide access to) source. In this case we're not doing that, so no prob there.
And yup like you say, if we have any contributions or fixes we certainly will share with you. We're not like some evil dudes come to plunder your hard work =)
Cheers
Nick

Thank you... I am going to trust you.
So back to the question. How to flash userdata
I happen to know how to do that with the flash tool. But this is not GPL or public info and I use that for my own development. It was created by me and is not open source. Actually if you spend the time to research here, I do explain how to use it. It's built into my ROM distribution setup for the flash tool. But realize it is not 100% reliable unless you know what your doing.... It is 100% for me though
I will just say this to help you. Buy Titanium Backup and that will do what you need. Another choice is CWM (Clock Work Mod). If you want my way, PM me and I am willing to discuss it with you.
