i want to make this clearly, when i saw this news, i am immediatley contacting with rockchip contact, and they have confirmed, the rk3188-t .

but rk3188-t is not crap cpu. rk3188-t won't support retina screen, so on tablet, we should advoid the rk3188-t cpu. but on tv sticks, there is no such problems.

rockchip has release patches to make the firmware Compatibility for rk3188 and rk3188-t. the price difference for those two chip is about 1.5-2 usd.

as far as i know, most of the android tv stickes in market has been used the rk3188-t. rockchip want to make a different, in tablet, use rk3188, in tv boxes, use the rk3188-t.

that's the information i get. will share with you guys more when i get more.

Processors 3188t from September were just used on tablets to lower costs.
They introduced these processors lest tweak and there is nothing to discuss here.

Processors rk3188 somehow from release to the market, operated well and now are bad

Well, I call it fraud if the retailers knowingly advertise these T-based tv sticks as being full RK3188 @ 1608MHz (or 1800MHz). What would you think if you were shopping for e.g. a 3GHz Intel CPU and they sold you a crippled one which would only go to 2,5GHz but was still advertised as 'Genuine Intel 3GHz'?

You're right it is a scam.
At the beginning of these processors RK3188T were used in tablets and still are, and writing that after about 8 months RK3188 are unstable it is fake

Maybe this is also the reason why most stock FWs underclock the devices so heavily. They aim for the lowest common denominator.

what are your problems?

the big problem is that some times , the tv-box refuses to open.
it happend two times ,but it started up a half hour later.
i am also having some sound issues ,as corrupted sound through the hdmi.
, when i am using, es explorer and mx player,or bs player for movie ,(through wifi ) some times the play back (.. and the program ) stops and i am facing the es explorers screen.


is there a possibility that the chip runs on a greater speed than it can handdle ,when i am using a custom rom with no 3188-t patch ?

I aksed what chip was inside the unit,

He sent back,

I confrim this is rk3188-t, now almost all box is rk3188-t

What a find, one really can learn a lot in this community.

As much as it looks scam, the other side of the coin could explain stability issues we have. What i mean is, all the developments are for RK3188, whatever we do, we seem not to be happy with the performance.

2GB RAM, Quad Core, any phone out there with these specs is a killer, literary a killer, i still stick to the argument that this device is under-performing for its values, there is a long way to go.

for me the rk3188-t runs absolut stable and fast. i wont start crying now, if the cpu could run some percent faster now. Stop panic the people outside.

The only thing is you did not know it when you get a RK3188 T.
And a Normal RK3188 runs with 1.6 GHz. For me it is like you buy a Car and later they told you it has only 100 Horse Power instead of 140.

Thinking alot of getting that box, do have a MK802IV right now, pice of crap :/ but thats also with the "T" CPU model.. Wanna bet thats why i do have bad video and overall bad performance

I have two more x7 mini's coming, have asked on minix forum but no answer, even though many reads, Maybe also why MiniX are so strict with the no custom rom flash policy??

Maybe better to have a list of what units have the full fat CPU and that will drive change as the others will not sell very well, and give payback to those who use the better CPU in their units?

No one has perfected the firmware for RK based devices. Until an official Google / android variant is released, we are all at the mercy of time and thankfully have Neomode, FinlessBob, and other such saints to wallow through the mud that is firmware dev, so that we have semi functional hardware for now.

Thank you for the info, guys. Will be interesting to see how this affects their market. I know I would be pissed if my 802iv had a throttled chip at its core.

I've sent an email to Rikomagic inquiring as to which, if any products, are affected by the processor swap.
